Excellent criticism of that technology. That is something which deeply concerns me. The trouble is, are they already using something like this on us surreptitiously? Perhaps we need to fight fire with fire and make such technologies available to the public for personal use so that they be used as intended - for personal growth. I still fear the phenomenon of "wireheading" that may arise from users of that tech where they would simply stimulate their pleasure centers ad infinitum until they no longer wanted anything else. It would have to be carefully designed and regulated to avoid this and completely off-line to prevent hacking. Think of the damage done by anti-depressant drugs to the brain in the longer-term. Alternative treatment like this one would render the diminishing return model of psychopharmacology obsolete. Yes, it would be opening Pandora's box, but is that box already open?
