Solid Power Inc. has created a solid state battery -

10x jump in power (or 10x drop in size) from traditional lithium-ion cells.
They have partnered with by BMW, Ford and Samsung
The batteries are already in the testing phase.
It will license the technology - not manufacture.
It will use current Li-ion battery production methods (Roll-to-Roll) - no need to retool.

The main form of lithium corrosion in batteries are dendrites, which are pointed lithium structures that grow out from the anode. Dendrites, which are also a problem for lithium-ion batteries, can puncture battery parts and short-circuit the cell. In a traditional lithium-ion battery with a liquid electrolyte, that can lead to a fire. The liquid electrolyte is a flammable solvent just waiting to be ignited—it’s the fuel behind the battery fires on airplanes that have made recent headlines.

Solid Power has solved the dendrite problem.

The predicted life cycle of Lithium-Ion batteries is now 1,000 charge cycles, the point at which the charge capacity of the battery declines to 80% of the as-built capacity. A few years ago the predicted life cycle was 300-500 charge cycles

You should tell Elon Musk about it because Tesla's can only achieve 1,500 charging cycles.

Elon has stated that the Model 3's battery was designed to last 300,000 to 500,000 miles (or 1,500 charging cycles).
