Quoting: SugarSand I remain unvaxxed, as does one other team member on a team of 6. My company is great. I love it there. They are so good to their employees. There's not a snowball's chance in hell I'd get the shot. I have a feeling they will go out of their way to make sure they retain everyone they can, regardless of status. I'm unclear as to how this applies to remote employees, because I'm practically remote as it is. I have an office, but I only go in once or twice a week. I might be willing to get regular tests, as I think that they will go out of their way to make that convenient, perhaps on-site testing. I'm a software developer and never have a problem finding jobs - recruiters find them for me ... and I'm not at all worried about a layoff if it comes to that. In my state you can collect unemployment insurance even if fired for cause. So however it plays out I'll be fine. I'd love to hear about others' experience. I can't wait to see what happens February 9, which is the deadline to enforce the mandate. You're not seeing that if this passes unvaccinated wont qualify for anything. Dont you see what canada and Australia are doing? Each brings in some new restriction to tame the other. Soon you wont even be able to get a bank account. |

I can't wait to see what happens February 9, which is the deadline to enforce the mandate. I lost my software engineering job of 16.5 years (23 years in industry) on Nov. 1st for not getting vaccinated. I was the only one on my team not vaccinated. We all had been working remote for over 2 years. Some of the other engineers on other teams that I was friends with tried the religious exemptions; they got denied and put on indefinite paid leave. 4 weeks into the leave they got termination letters from HR. They also don't get unemployment. I get it because it was considered I was not complying to company policy (to be vaccinated.) I have not had any luck finding a new job as in some interviews they pop the vaxx question and I say "No." I am now looking for anything as I am burning through savings money fast. I had expensive tastes like owning Maserati's etc. I was making OK money; way over 6 figures with all bennies including a pension. Selling Maserati's, Alfa Romeo Stelvio maybe and a rare collector truck. I have lots of Gold as well but won't sell that just yet. I stand up to tyranny as I am a Gulf war combat veteran and hate being blackmailed into something I don't want that stands against freedom. I didn't even want to attest to the vaxx question at my company; they had an HR Nazi meet with me and twist my arm. In the end, the day I got terminated I told them I had each of their names on a list for a future Nuremberg 2 trial. I told them I will volunteer my IT skills for free to bring these people to justice. I am sure they lost sleep over that which is what I intended. |

Curious about how this is playing out for others. My company is awaiting word from SCOTUS. Took everything I had not to go off on a response e-mail before I left the office today. They're requiring unvaxed to test weekly, out of pocket. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79403416 Try not to go off. SCOTUS might come through. I can't imagine my company requiring us to pay ... we get so many perks. They are very generous with the perks, which apply to all up and down the line. Everyone has access to the same pro sports tickets, free food trucks, free lunches. They handled the covid protocols wonderfully and managed to not have to shut down any factories. They can't afford the churn that would come with making line workers get tested weekly, off site, at their own expense. If they do go through with this, I expect my company would have an on-site testing situation. I'm sorry this is happening. Let's hope for the court to fix it. Haven't been in an office for 8 years. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72748193 I need to read the rules on that. THAT will be the workaround in my case if that's permissible the OSHA regulations. We're all basically remote as it is. Last year, I didn't go in for 14 months. No one did, except the network admins. When the shit hits the fan and the end is just nigh, will you cry out to Heaven? Can't come to the office without it Big insurance company I think that a lot of companies that really don't want to do it waited until the notification deadline (Jan. 10). Curious about how this is playing out for others. My husband and I got our letter this week as well. I was wondering, would it work if I made my own business and asked my boss to hire as a "temp" worker? There has to be loop holes! If anyone else has ideas, I'd love to hear them. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 65908928 There are loop holes, I think, depending on how cool your boss and chain of command are. I really want to read the regulations. What about states that already outlawed mandates? What about companies with operations in different states? What about remote workers? What about subsidiaries smaller than 100? etc. I'm confident my company will bend over backward to try to accommodate everyone, but it's unclear what that will actually look like. Religious exemptions must be at the employer's discretion, right? When the shit hits the fan and the end is just nigh, will you cry out to Heaven? Will you lie down and die? No idea how that will happen when you can’t find a test and the lines at clinics are around the building. We have less than 100 at our site but our company is a large nationwide company. I uploaded proof of one shot and a letter from Dr saying she advised against any further shots due to my reaction. |
