If one wants to gauge the depravity of their favorite comedians, they need only watch a 2005 documentary called THE ARISTOCRATS where they compete with one another to tell the world's filthiest joke in versions that range from the simply profane to the utterly perverse and disgusting. And just guess who many of those big names listed as the winner of that competition? Bob Saget.

While I pride myself on being able to watch just about anything, THE ARISTOCRATS pushed even my limits and it's one of those few films I needed a shower after viewing that single time and I couldn't wait to get it off my video library shelf.

So, why do I get the impression many posting on this thread would hail that trashy title as being Oscar-caliber material?

Short answer: because they actually WOULD.

I thought the guy was unfunny, sleezy and creepy... however, where do people get off proclaiming him to allegedly be a murderer, rapist and a child predator? Where's the evidence?

Would it surprise me if he was any or all of those accusations? Not really, but I'm certainly not labeling him or even accusing him without tangible evidence.

Precious, I'm ANYTHING but a Bible-thumper and have the red karma from them to prove it. But what I AM is an old man who's lived long enough to distinguish between clever -if tasteless- humor and pure trash, and I go all the way to the days of Sophie Tucker, Lenny Bruce, Rusty Warren and Jack E. Leonard so I pack some serious historical perspective into my seven decades. Their style used to be called "working blue" -after the local prudes and cops who'd come to a show to shut it down for obscenity- but notice how that NEVER happens anymore? And society has taken a big one on the chin ever since.

ALL personality comedy [that which focuses on behavioral issues] is based upon fact and when it reveals the ugliest sides of inhuman nature it becomes hysterical to the audiences laughing because it gives them a sense of superiority over those who don't "get" the real joke.

How sad you apparently will never be able to read between the lines -or the guffaws- of those whose nervous laughter hides their own hideous indiscretions. Try watching Ricky Gervais at any one of his hosting gigs for the Golden Globes and perhaps you'll understand more fully what I mean.

And I stress "perhaps" because I seriously doubt your ability to do even that.

This entire debate reminds me of another trashy little film, this one called STATE & MAIN that stars Alec Baldwin as a big-name star [and serial pedophile] who trolls so seriously for under-aged ass that the movie he's working on gets kicked out of their New England location; then he starts up all over again and they have to scramble to hide his perversion from parents and the law alike. And the entire movie is played for LAUGHS because once again, it's all just one big joke to them.
