Your avatar inspired me, sorry AC I don't mean to ridicule more laugh so not to cry. To clean the subject of Religious connotations, Lord of the rings is perfect.

The constant balance of good and evil is everlasting, currently the last 20yrs (as I know it but longer as I read 100 - 300yrs ) at the bottom level of society love/good is abundant. The top has slowly but surely been breeding more and more evil/hate. It is now too much and trickling down contaminating the bottom of society to the point it must be re-balanced. Once done love/good will rule for X time till the next pivoting point.

Same concept no bible thumping.

Tolkien understood it all and eloquently put it all into stories that "educated" people in his time could understand and appreciate as entertainment. Most people these days would not even be able to read and comprehend his prose, and that is beyond sad. The use and understanding of the English Language has decayed beyond belief.

As you say, LOTR in its written form is all about Good and Evil, and the Triumph of Good over Evil.

The Films are actually quite good at capturing that spirit.
