If you truly are a Rock Star then it shouldn't be a problem moving to a company that is in need of person with your skill set, at a higher compensation level too!!

When shit starts to go bad, always make the days priority to CYA and set yourself for the best outcome. Make sure that your absence is extremely deleterious to the company and management. Take with you anything that can use to be an advantage to another company, to siphon customers away, or to start your own business or consultation. Become un-replaceable. Fuck them until they beg you to come back... with a big bonus and raise.
