OP you're being brain washed, you really don't understand the nazis and you wouldn't admire them so much if you would have known them.

Btw it is no secret at all that Churchill drank a lot.

Re: Winston Churchill was a DRUNKARD!
Japan's attack on pearl harbor hurt the blitzkrieg.

 Quoting: EightyEight

How do you figure that? When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor the blitzkrieg was over. The German Army Group Center had been stopped and defeated in the Battle of Moscow. Hitler gave Directive 39 to setup up defensive lines and the Red Army was already counterattacking by the time the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.
 Quoting: Educated Redneck

all of the troops Stalin had in the far east were diverted to the west...
 Quoting: EightyEight

That happened before Pearl Harbor when Stalin received intelligence that the Japanese weren't going to attack Siberia. Germany didn't have very good allies, but that was because Hitler was very bad at diplomacy and no one trusted him as he violated his word so often.

The Germans just couldn't beat the Soviets as they never had supply lines strong enough to support their large armies so far from Germany. Germany's only chance was for a quick victory and when the Soviets didn't crumble and held off the Germans in the Battle of Moscow Germany lost. They would be in a strong position for several more years but their opportunity to win the war was over. They knew going in they couldn't win a war of attrition and when they failed to take Moscow and the Soviets didn't overthrow Stalin the German chance of victory was gone.

Winston’s Churchill’s achievements as prime minister of the U.K are hard to match. If you think about what you’ve accomplished versus what Churchill had, you may find yourself in a hole of despair. You may just want to reach for that bottle of beer or glass of whiskey to numb you from your lack of accomplishments.

Unfortunately, in doing so you’ll only be furthering those feelings of inferiority. You see, Winston Churchill was also a boozer, a sot, a lover of alcohol and he could definitely outdrink you.

Churchill’s unquenchable thirst for alcohol wasn’t exactly a secret. White House staffers in Franklin Roosevelt’s administration had a special term when Churchill came for a visit: “Winston Hours.” Basically, during this time the president and prime minister would get three sheets to the wind. Supposedly, Roosevelt needed to sleep for 10 hours a night for three nights to recover from “Winston Hours.”

 Quoting: EightyEight

Heres a fun lil factoid. Winston Churchill is personally responsible for The Blair House (the Presidents Guest House). Guests of the President used to stay in the White House, until Winston Churchill came to visit. He got drunk and hit on FDRs wife Eleanor. After that Eleanor mandated that the President have a guest house, which is now the Blair House!

There is when you're the leader of the free world and are so drunk at 7pm or hungover the next day you cannot think straight in a national crisis. Many Presidents have been heavy boozers with most at least waiting until sunset to open that Scotch bottle. Considering their level of authority it didn't make it right, but at least they showed some discipline.

Being a Navy man, FDR would say "the sun's gone down over the yardarm" as a signal for his butler to break out the ice bucket. He reportedly liked a couple before dinner and one during. That is, unless Churchill was in town and it was an open bar all day long as needed.

Truman was another one who habitually enjoyed a couple of highballs every evening; his catchphrase was to "strike a blow for liberty." In fact, Truman famously said he'd never trust a man who didn't take a drink once in awhile.

In contrast, LBJ wouldn't even wait until late in the day and was known to knock back several fingers of Bourbon in the middle of the afternoon if the mood struck him and damn what anyone thought about it... a pattern he started back in his early days in Congress when twisting arms in his endless backroom deals over a few bottles of well-aged hooch. It's also been documented that he could get pretty mean after knocking back a few.

Neither Nixon or LBJ were "happy drunks"; Nixon would get morose and ponder suicide [on the infamous "Nixon tapes" he's clearly drunkenly slurring his words several times], and LBJ would get downright belligerent and call up political enemies -both real and imagined- to harangue them on the phone.

Both JFK and Jackie were strung out on painkillers while in the White House. Jack's were needed for his chronic back pain, Jackie got hers on the sly just because she couldn't cope with FLOTUS pressures -and her husband's equally-chronic fucking around. Dr. Max "Feelgood" Jacobson would regularly visit the Oval office or private residence to needle them both up. Eventually Jack weaned himself off the syringe and back to a few pills a day but flatly ordered Jackie off the junk as soon as he found out about it.

Jacobson was famous for supplying his doped up "vitamin" injections to everyone from Judy Garland to Elvis to Elizabeth Taylor and dozens in-between. In recent years, Kennedy's use has been played down and today it's claimed he only used Jacobson for a short period of time, something White house visitor logs suggest is not true. For kicks, look up Dr. Max Jacobson... it's a hell of a story!

Clinton was another strong imbiber and allegedly still is to his day even though his doctors have long advised against it. Then again, if I was married to Hillary...

It's the politicos who present a squeaky-clean image to the public that are most problematic because they have the most to hide. Jackie Kennedy smoked like a chimney her whole life but was rarely photographed holding a cigarette because it was "unlady-like" and clashed with her classier public image. Betty Ford comes to mind as a notorious lush as does another closet-drinker, Barbara Bush... and her own Georgie-boy was well-known as a heavy boozer when younger before he crashed his car one time too many and Dabby B gave him a come-to-Jesus talk only without the religion. Shortly thereafter, Georgie "found God" and never touched it again.

Or, so he claimed.

The bottom line is this: we really have no idea how many major decisions have been made while our leaders were half-crocked but when you consider that as a possibility, a lot of things suddenly make more sense!

A very good movie which shows it is public knowledge that along with drinking all day Churchill also smoked all day! Not hard to see why the Nazis hated him, he stood up to them.
