But if you parse the wording of that snippet carefully, there's a difference between what it says, and what most people would assume without paying close attention. You cannot be forced. That does not mean there are no downsides to declining. If you are willing to endure the discomfort of those consequences, you have the option of opting out. Being unemployed due to employment requirement is one of those consequences. Do I think it's right, do I think it's fair, do I think it's justifiable? NO. But that's different than saying it's not possible or even illegal. Being excluded from public venues is also one of those possibile consequences. There are probably a lot more that are just as bad. We need laws on the books or solid nationally binding court decisions to preclude those sorts of things. Right now, it doesn't look like we have those to the extent needed. This snippet says basically you cannot be held down and injected against your will. It does not protect you from having your life made difficult if you choose to refuse. |
