You are opening a door with spirits you do not want to play with.

My son got into the occult via new age. He got violently attacked when he came out of it and those same spirits tried to attack me and all in my family. But, they were in for a rude awakening with me because the name of Jesus repels them all.

We went through months of hell because of his attraction to the dark side and would not want anyone else to live through this. My son met the demons on the dark side and it took him months to recover.
 Quoting: NOLAangel

Thanks everyone for replies. I appreciate your experience. I think I have the same attraction. It's almost irresistible. When I was a teen, I got kicked out of a church because of the occult books I was reading. (I had no choice but to be at that church.)

If you don't mind my asking, could you please describe the "months of hell"? And how you made it stop and why the name of Jesus didn't work right away?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 81088587

No, I don't mind. The demons that were unleashed, tormented my son for months. He was in his mid 20's when this happened and they kept trying to hurt him and torment him in the mind and his body. It got so bad that I could not leave him alone in the house. Either, me or my dad who were Bible believing Christians had to be with him.

It was tormenting for us because we watched him being tortured, but could not rescue him until he grew to believe he had power over them.

As for me and why did I stop them in the name of Jesus, is because I know and firmly believe in the power of the name of Jesus. Also, I had been trained in my dreams, many years before to battle demons. For many years I did not know why I kept having dreams about battling demons. Each dream was exhausting, but as they progressed I got better at it. I really think it was God training me for what I had to face when my son let them in my house and perhaps for sometime in the future.

So the night that they tried to physically attack me, like they did to my son, I left my bedroom to lower the air-conditioner because I was hot. The AC control was right outside of my son's room where he had been attacked the night before. I went to the control for the AC and all of a sudden I heard a noise like a thousand flickering wings. I saw the air distorted and saw a figure approaching me that was at least 7 foot tall. It reached its hand at my forehead and tried to push me down like it did to my son the night before. However, unlike my son, I had no fear. I authoritatively called out the name of Jesus and then it immediately ran back to my son's room. I heard the fluttering of wings again as it ran away. I went back to my room and fell asleep knowing I was safe and protected.
 Quoting: NOLAangel

I’m tempted to upgrade just so I can talk to you. You’ve described my own experience with my son. And Jesus also teaches me in dreams.

OP, my son was literally tortured by these entities. Like you, he is attracted to the dark side. He also tended to be prideful in thinking that he can handle things himself. Not as much now. The ONLY way to have true dominion over demons is to follow Christ, surrender self, and let him work through you. Otherwise, the blowback is going to be terrible, and can be life-threatening. Much love to you, May you find truth and true everlasting joy.

I responded yesterday, early in the thread. I have read GSP/LTD's experiences....fascinating. I will pray that Joseph makes it to God. I now have more time to write my experiences with the board and why I won't allow them into my home.

Almost 40 years ago, when I was a teenager, My Mother and her 2 friends started to play with the board. These are polyester wearing, coffee drinking Moms hanging around a kitchen table on weekday afternoons ( to give you a correct visual ). Not the kind of people you would expect to be playing with these things. I became the note-taker. they wouldn't let me put hands on the planchette because my energy was young and vulnerable, or something like that. they did this regularly for about 6 months or so. most dialogue I don't remember, nor was it important to remember but a few things were. So, we got a few 'traveler' spirits stop by but mostly it was 3 personalities that came regularly. Thor ( I know, stupid, right?), Micheal and Uriah.

Synopsis of each:
Micheal - young, always recited poetry from what I remember. Good spirit.

Thor - asshole, liar, tried to cause trouble between my Mom and her 2 friends. probably started the fire in the house, but that's not important here. Fire was put out, started in the chimney but enough that firemen were called and we had to evacuate. he also took credit for turning off my alarm and continually making me late for school. asshole.

Uriah - He said he was trying to get to God through good deeds and that it was like climbing a ladder to God, each good deed is a rung on that ladder. His coming to us when we were on the board was to protect us from malevolent spirits. he kept telling us, for months, to stop using the board, find God and get right with Him. he wasn't taken too seriously until a display one day that solidified it with me, at least, that we really were talking to spirits. In the back of my head, I always wondered if my Mom's one friend was playing an elaborate hoax on us and moving the planchette but there's no way after the cat incident.

This always happened in my Mom's kitchen, so there was no way my mom's friend could have rigged this. Second floor apartment in a house, not as wide as first floor of house, so my Mom's cat could go in/out the kitchen window and down the back roof to go outside. he was an old cat. he came in, ate, slept, went back outside. that was his routine. he didn't play. he had no more kitten energy to him at this point in his life. So he pops in the kitchen window one day while they're talking to Uriah. he spells out on board ' I love animals, permission to play with your cat', something to that effect. my Mom laughs and says you don't need to ask permission and before she can finish saying that, her cat is in the middle of the floor on his hind legs batting at the air....at nothing. I noped out of there so fast. may not be proof to some, but it was to me. I knew that cat and at the moment a spirit asks to play with him he does that?! I think they pretty much stopped playing with the board soon after that. I know I was no longer willing to sit and take notes after that. About a month after, the chimney caught fire and I remember Mom and friends thinking Thor probably did it, but I was probably not privvy to all details that would make them think that. Still took me a long time to find God, but I give credit to Uriah for showing me that what we can't see does indeed exist and I hope he has finally found his way to God.

I'm curious, what intentions would a person have to end up with one of those bad situations where an entity attaches itself to them?

I still have my Parkers brothers board from the 70's. been trying to get it to give me the lotto numbers; no go.

Ouija boards are very kewl decorations and show a very eclectic taste; my mouse pad is a ouija pad.

THere are some super nice old style boards.

Another cool anecdote, thanks for sharing it, though I confess, I really wished there were more to the cat thing. Like he didn't say anything after that? I know you left, but your mom & friends... he didn't come back to say anything else?

My only experiences were with a homemade "ouija" with the glass & the alphabet letters and the 'spirit' identifying itself as 4 letters, a repeat syllable, coincidentally found in each one of us 3 first names.

From then on, I always thought it was merely the collective subconscious moving the glass. Also, I found that I could make it move wherever I wanted, by simply thinking where I wanted it to go and it would do that. I didn't do this on purpose, and I never pushed the glass. I was merely impatient and I was also interested in telekinesis (albeit, you're not supposed to touch objects for that) when it started spelling, I would mentally finish the word. So I have no idea how that dynamic worked: was I intuitively receiving what it wanted to spell beforehand or was I telekinectic of sorts? I never pushed it nor moved it with my finger (1 finger per person). But it became exhausting for me, cos I felt I had to mentally come up with something coherent for it to spell and it always did. I never believed in spirits back then, and was rather sure that anyone who did was a kook.

Or maybe it's like the pendulum: the person's unconscious moves it. I never pranked anyone, I never physically pushed it I merely thought of a letter and simply followed the glass with my very lightly applied finger. My lightest touch did not matter: it still would spell what I thought, so I ended up thinking the entire thing bogus. I have never tried a board with planchette though.

One time, we somehow were dozen of so people, at my friend's house. (Us teens, some adults.) Someone knocked at the front door of her apt. I got flustered cos we were in the middle of the glass moving pretty fast. I said "I'll go!"

I'm midway to the door when a huge collective and thunderous "OH!" exclamation causes me to turn around towards them: the glass had kept moving and, unbeknownst to me, they were all convinced I was pushing it! I rolled my eyes, went to the door as I muttered "Told you I wasn't doing it!" But why so many people all decided it was me? Because I was the organizer? It couldn't be anyone else? Did they zero in on my thoughts? Weird!

Never was anything Earth-shattering shared that I recall. So I gave up on it because trying to think of what it was going to spell drained me. It quit being fun. About a decade later, I learned how to do real telekinesis, with remote objects. Now that was real fun!

Yes, I was set on an antique style, as I've said a few times (sorry for my being repetitive, to those who have read the entire thread). Very cool about your mouse pad! I was getting a pin that was a ouija board a while back, then I didn't. Can't recall why.

I wish I could give you more on the cat thing, but that's all I remember. 40 years ago and I was a teenager...teenaged brain, ya know :) I've had alot of paranormal experiences over the years. Worked in a haunted building, moved into a haunted apt once....that was a bitch to clear. What was there was going after my daughter and I would have wiped that SOB out of existence in all spirit realms if I had had the power to. black shadow orb flying around that even our cats saw. He also knocked on our windows for weeks after we kicked him out, we were on the second floor there, too. Neighbors had issues too. Glad to have left that building when we did. Even dealt with a period of time when sleep paralysis was an issue. Ugh, so many weird stories I have forgotten about, gonna sound super crazy. Will try to add, over time, when I have the time, if this thread doesn't die.

Whoa! Will look fwd to reading them. We're the same age group, btw. Well, I just felt my hair touched now. It happens a lot. When I moved here, nothing and then people died and stuff started happening, so no, now I won't think you're nuts. Sometimes I'm in bed facing the wall and I hear and feel someone climb on the other side of the mattress. I turn towards my back: nothing there! Chilling!

The knocking on the window reminded me of Home, Sweet Hell episode of My Horror Story. The lady in the show said that she was followed by the entity who had killed her husband .And that it knocked on her window to be let in. She returned to that house. She died a few months before I caught the re-run, a few after it originally aired. That was eerie, as so many of these shows are faked.

Feel free to revive the dead thread. I'm shocked that what I posted about Bob Saget, my discovery that he predicted his own death has been largely ignored by the near 250 people who clicked on the thread. I never expected this one to be popular at all! You never know here!

You will invite spiritual warfare into your life. Spiritual warfare is a long game, not a cool ghost telling you your future like the Ouija board implies. It will instead be a long process of cars breaking down, bad health, complications at work, pets dying etc. Because bringing it in your house is stating spiritually "fuck it, I think Ouija board demons are cool so I'm gonna put it on my wall" so the Ouija board demons will come whether you use it or not. Because you made a covenant with it simply by admiring it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80821491
As a non-Christian, I had no idea what a "covenant" is. "Agreement", just looked it up.

Thank you for posting this. The Christian perspective is definitely interesting and all of you seem to agree. The part that intrigues me here is your list of "long process". You're the first that has told me this. I thought all of you meant that a demon would, more or less, come out of it and either be visible or just do paranormal stuff around the place, which frightens others. TBH, I can't imagine things getting any worse. (ATM, it's practically impossible!)

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 81088587

Another thing to add to my warning is that a covenant with evil can manifest in ways not easily visible to you. If you do not have spiritual discernment you will dismiss instances of attack against you as pure bad luck bad timing etc. Like most people would.
The quality of your life will be overall diminished; even if you say you already ok with it, it will diminish you. Staining your brand new shirt and similar occurrences will seem so mundane as to not be evil, but it's a long process!! Each stained shirt gives a dose of defeat and disappointment that breaks you down.

I speak from personal experience that led to a decade of countless hours of research. I believe the Bible to be the most powerful book to have ever existed. Magic and occult books cant even compete with the power given when you use the Bible given from God in your life.

I'm thinking about buying a fancy, all wood Ouija Board and hanging it on my wall. Just for the swanky antique look & feel of it.

For the Christians who object and believe this stuff is real (which it might be, dunno): if I don't use it, nothing bad can happen, right?

I mean, what's the worst that can happen? It falls off and I have to re-pin it. If you object, state why. Thanks!
