Who is the best female pop star of all time? | |

Lavigne did a great job here. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69279362 [link to youtube.com (secure)] To the posters who think female pop stars are "interchangeable", the video posted above proves you wrong. Most pop singers would never attempt to cover Metallica like that much less pull it off so perfectly. Even a lot of rock bands with male singers couldn't do it that well. |

I can control your mind, try not to picture Statue of Liberty. You can’t control my mind because I couldn’t picture those people if I tried. This is for the #1 female pop artist of all time. Madonna has been the #1 pop star her entire adult life. Britney Spears emulated her, almost anyone around the world knows Madonna. She is the Elvis of Female musicians and she hasn’t managed to get herself killed. Again, you gave examples of people I’ve literally never ever ever heard of, EVER! Lol....those 3 are better than Maddona... Deepest lyrics and most beautiful voices... You should try them....you don't know what you're missing..... |

I just listened to some. Please explain what is good about this? Her looks are incredible. The songs I heard are like this. Monotonous, boring, and banal. I don't get it. Her mother was an opera singer and made sure she had the best classical voice training available starting very young in life, and it shows. Very few women can match her vocal abilities. For pure energy I don't think anyone has worked harder with Madonna, who I also dislike, who has done as much as she can with as little as she has. She is an example of what pure determination can accomplish. For pure beauty of a voice though I have to go with Whitney Houston, who also had a huge vocal range. For some reason her vocal cords resonate in a way that just reaches into my soul. A very troubled person with a life that was cut short ... but still had a beautiful voice. |

Such a shame she had that voice affliction that ended her career. I like Blondie as well. I used to wear out her 8 track tapes when I was going to college. The early Madonna has them both beat in that category. Other female singers were much further out on the creative end of new types of music than any of those three, but so far I can't think of a one who actually had the refined vocal abilities of Maria and Whitney - unfortunately they both just stayed very close to the commercial mainstream. They were performers, NOT creators. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79647472 Australia 01/15/2022 02:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here are some real female musicians who could play the hell out of their instruments Quoting: bodhidharma That's great, but it's not necessary for pop music. Mariah Carey co-wrote the most beloved song of all time on a piano when she admittedly was not a good piano player. I think it's cool that that can happen because it means anyone can do it at any time. It doesn't take 10,000 of learning an instrument to write a great pop song. She tells the story of writing the song here at about 3:40. She calls herself a terrible piano player, but she didn't let that stop her. That's a lot more impressive to me than an expert doing it. James Hetfield was playing guitar, but beyond that, I think Lavigne was more impressive because this is such a masculine song. It's nothing that a female would normally sing, but she made it sound natural. I think Lavigne's singing was better where Hetfield was basically screaming a lot. Lavigne actually sang the song properly all the way through. I can't believe it, but I prefer Lavigne's performance of this song. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] |
