Rather than enforcing senseless, unscientific, and harmful mask and other covid mandates; the police, national guard, etc. could be doing something useful such as stopping such rampant and flagrant crime.... we live in totally insane times

Why do you think they are not going to prosecute people who steal under x amount? And stealing packages from the containers on RR cars virtually guarantees that they will UNDER that amount.
Even if stuff in those packages are worth OVER "x" is REI or any other big company going to be sending employees down to the Criminal Trial to testify as to the value of the stuff that was stolen?
That is why the Gypsies in Europe target foreign visitors, NOT locals, as related to me by a Rome policeman after Gypsies tried to rob me years ago, which he saw happening but couldn't get to me in time even though running flat out. He asked me: "WHAT American is on his own nickel going to fly back here to Rome several times for the Criminal Trial - which is always continued which is why you have to make multiple trips? NO Witness to testify ... NO Conviction!!" ... and the Gypsies KNOW IT!!
Sad ... but that is LA today. OH ... and it will be WORSE in LA tomorrow.
