If you are into the stock market and stuff, you learn about manias. One book you see lot is "Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds". It has about the Dutch Tulip Mania, the South Sea Bubble, the Crusades and The Witch Mania. This is obviously a mania, a mass psychosis.
