Two years ago ago i would have said no way Putin would cave in to the old soviet hardliners but in the Covid years, with all people and their families pushed mentally,and being that certain US factions are responsible for current predicaments the whole world is under, I would say the chances of Putin doing something extraordinary is almost guaranteed. Putin finally realizes the US and its two acting branches of leadership ((The over and under)) are no longer cohesive. He accepted it till now. This is so much bigger than anyone can imagine and his placement in history is at hand..
