The good news is, there are plenty of nuts available, which are a great survival food.

I went into one store yesterday, and they literally had cans of nuts on display in 10 different locations. Every kind you could think of. Most of them on sale. It was overwhelming, how many nuts there were.

I think they are subtly trying to help people prepare.

I'm in southern Indiana and haven't seen any lasting shortages. Saltine crackers are the only thing I can't find every time

I’m in southern Indiana! JayC seems good Walmart is short on products like meat and the other day I couldn’t find dried beans. Cat food fancy feast I can’t find. I’m having problems finding the laundry products I use. Walmart does not have much house paint or spray paint. Farm feed is going up. And the prices are killing me.

My area hasn't really had many shortages.

People an hour away in bigger cities here in Kentucky has definitely seen broader shortages.

One shortage my local town is having is Totino's pizza.

I love those fucking things. Haven't seen any in a month.

I've ate them for years now and no matter where I went there has always been plenty.

Now... none.

That doesn't make any fucking sense to me.

Re: Seriously though, what's with the shortages that have been lasting for years now?
It isn't rocket science. I work for a large financial company, mortgage specific, and it's my job to analyze the entire market for my company. Inflation will continue to rise due to the supply chain (SC). Inflation cause is 2 fold. One, printing money out of thin air, and lack of supply is #2.
On monetary policy, printing money causing inflation isn't monetary theory, it's fact. It's a simple equation based on proven data. This is contradictory to the feds 'news snippits', bc they assume the avg US citizen is stupid. That assumption is right bc most people could give 2 shits if they are getting free money. The fed btw isn't tappering easy money btw. Until the excess money supply is sucked out if the system it will best case level off, worse case continue. I'm betting worse case bc of how M2 money supply works in practice. Banks not needing to hold a percentage reserve for loans produced causes a multiplier of the money in circulation
On SC, since the beginning of the pandemic supply chain has been completely disrupted but for some reason the media and government is just now supposedly addressing. This is 1 year to late but regardless it can't be fixed overnight. The amount of ALL, ALL, ALL, raw materials produced by China is staggering. The US can't simply start making product overnight in-house, nor will big corps want to do it. Why would you with rising wages? It makes zero sense unless you penalize the corps. Trump tried, albeit it was more as window dressing, but it was something. Final thought on supply chain, until china stops locking down the supply chain will get worse. No matter what the US does to try and fix the problem, our solution will take years to implement.

Take away, the dems are so fucking stupid they will refuse to look into or study the above. For the few dems that get it they won't care bc they believe in power only, not the citizens best interest. Neo-cons fall into the latter. The only solution that is the quickest is to stop all subsidies to private corps, install tariffs across the board, and hunker down for a collapse. The house of cards is to massive to dismantle without a quick controlled implosion. The key will be allowing blackrock and vanguard to collapse. People will not want to hear that since their entire retirement will be gone but it's the quickest, most just, and equal to do. This solution has complete disregard of status or power. EVERYONE, will be affected. That's the price the US citizen has to willingly complying and voting for retards. The US citizen is equally as culpable as any govt or private entity.

Good luck everyone. The next 5 years will be rough. If you own your home dint sell,, wait for the collapse, and buy another property. Not now, just wait. It will be obvious when.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 81681700

China will reopen the supply chain when the Neocons stop with the campaign of sanctions and "maximum pressure". Trump and Biden are both to blame in this regard because both are/were subordinate to the Neocons who control the Deep State.

Remember all those Chinese people dropping dead in the streets and subways in China when "the Pandemic" first broke out? It was those images that led to Western hysteria and the self-destructive lockdowns. But once "the Pandemic" got underway, there were no longer Chinese people (or people in any other country) dropping dead in the streets. Right then and there I knew it was a Hoax.

So, what was the purpose? To answer that you have to recall what the Chinese-American relationship was the day before the Hoax. The day before "the Pandemic" started in Wuhan, the Neocon-run Deep State (which Trump made the mistake of giving a free hand) was increasing the "maximum pressure" campaign of sanctions and tariffs on China. Trump took the Establishment foreign policy advice of "maximum pressure" without thinking critically about the consequences in the long term. This is a hallmark of Deep State foreign policy: thinking only in terms of short term gain without thinking about the long term consequences. It's the drug addict mentality.

The consequence came when China decided to reciprocate the damage done to their economy by creating a Hoax that they knew would lead to mass Western hysteria and eventual economic collapse. It worked: the hysteria led to tyrannical lockdowns and America's economy collapsed. A secondary benefit of the Hoax was that Trump's enemies in the Deep State and in the Democrat Party were able to manipulate the Hoax for domestic political purposes in the form of ushering the fraudulent mail-in ballots and media manipulation that led to the overthrow of Trump and the stealing of an election.

And now we see that Biden's foreign policy is being run by the same unelected, Neocon Deep State goons that influenced Trump's foreign policy. They will and have doubled-down with China (and Russia) and so the economic war will continue on its present course. The only solution to this nightmare will come when men of power in the Military and Intelligence community decide to forcefully remove the influence of the Neocons and take this country back the hard way, given that our Electoral Process is now FUBAR.

Some of it is covid restrictions and mandates, some is intentional. Not sure who is doing it, or why, but it does not seem organic.

Is it really a worker shortage?

Is it a distribution issue?

Is this intentional?

Effects of or prelude to hyperinflation.

Supply troubles caused by too low prices, leading to hoarding of existing stock, and or lack of incentive to produce goods.

The craziest thing is WHAT is suffering a shortage in your area.

People are seeing different shortage of items in different areas.

It's definitely some implementation of psychological tactics.

My son is a diesel mechanic. There are shortages on parts that are stating YEARS before any restock. There is one particular common part that has over a DECADE backorder listed for it. And it is used on almost every make of diesel there is.

The thing is, its not a complete shortage of everything.
Some brands/items just vanished and have not been re-stocked anywhere.
Go down some aisles and the shelves look stocked. Turn the corner and half of them are empty.

I live in Northern VA. I’ve been here for almost 30 years. I’m right off 95.
I have never seen the amount of trucks out on 95 daily that I see now. I travel 40 miles one way, a day. So I know and I see it. Massive amount of trucks on 95.
My grocery store, as of last night was the emptiest I have ever seen it. No meat, no bread and no chips. Bare shelves.
Two things.
What’s in the trucks?
Where are they going?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80269998

Also, a kajillion Sherwin Williams trucks, a couple a day. Yet if you go there they say a paint shortage and the paint costs a fortune.

Where is all this paint going?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79265196

I’m not sure but I’m sure it’s all tied together
Either it’s going to warehouses or these trucks are NOT shipping our supplies around. It’s something else.

Short synopsis:

DARPA is funding the creation of 3D printed food from "mixed waste," to be served "when traditional food is unavailable."

One big reason for the food shortages.

Soution: grow your own food, start thinking differently about all this (be creative), start seed swaps, etc. etc.

(Seed swaps are events where gardeners meet to exchange seeds. Swapping can be arranged online or by mail, especially when participants are spread out geographically. Swap meet events, where growers meet and exchange their excess seeds in person, are also growing in popularity.)

Welcome to Socialism! That's what happens, everything goes to shit!

I just shopped in a fancy mall, it looked like CUBA.

Amazon doesn't even give a shit about Whole foods anymore. They turned half the store into a distribution center for Prime customers. No more cafe, no more lunch crowds, no more community.

Life feels completely empty in Blue towns. I cant wait to get out of Nashville.

One real indicator of the supply chain fallout is Macys Shoe dept. It used to take up 1/4 of the main floor. It's just a tiny corner now, with one tiny sales rack.

Everything is online now.

America died anywhere liberalism reins. Seeing people masked all morning was depressing as well. Life feels so empty.
