"Only". That says a lot about how people think. Keep in mind that those throw-away people in many minds are people that contributed to society in one way or another. They had family, friends, and many acquaintances. "Only" is not just dismissive, it's inhumane to think about others in that way.

When you get lucky enough to age, rethink. In many cultures, it is the elderly that are revered. In western society, the elderly are thrown away by their citizens. All of you reading will one day age. Think about how you want to be treated.

Elders should be treated with the respect and dignity they earned through hard work and tenacity. Survival isn't for the faint of heart. It seems that some people relish the idea of Logans Run. Funny how that council was fulfilled by the wise old folk who were spared death.
