In reality, there was good reason to stop the crumbling armor formations from racing into Dunkirk--very bad terrain for armor, maintenance issues becoming critical, along with battle loss and fatigue. As soon as the infantry divisions caught up, the massive attack was back on. No one was really just allowed to escape. The Allies suffered horrendous losses at Dunkirk.

It is true that had the Brit Army been completely lost in France/Belgium, planning for Sea Lion could have been scaled down to a much more reasonable afair. There is still no guarantee that the invasion would have commenced.

It is all to easy to call out possible errors from campaigns fought long ago. We need to remember that no one, not even Hitler, had a crystal ball.

So your answer is yes they did when they were winning but stopped when they were losing.

Blitzkrieg isn't so easy when you need to sleep.

It was new stuff at the time and was issued as part of an experiment. The experiment failed. I really do not know which units were given drugs--they may not have done well at all.

The fact is that the army did quite well drug-free for a long time--before and after May 1940.

You may be right but the documentation and evidence suggests otherwise. It appeared to be handed out like cigarettes.

I just did some refresher research. The main issuing of the drug was, as I recalled, in April 1940. Millions of doses were issued. Although the real cutoff date was not clear, it is very clear in a military-wide order (from OKW) dated 1 July 1941 that the drug was NOT to be issued or used.

True to form, there are stories that specifications were issued for new drugs. Such new drugs were developed, but the war ended before this could be issued.

The bottom line is that the drugs were issued in time for the French campaign (35 MILLION doses). It is likely those were used up during the 6-week operation. A further 10 million doses were issued in early 1941--the NO MORE.

To state that the German military was all on meth is really quite foolish. If the issued drugs were spread evenly, it would have been enough to pump up German forces for about 10 days in early 1940 and about 2 days in early 1941. Of course, those were not spread out evenly--so some units were high for a week or two.

Hollywied historians never tire in their efforts to twist history to their liking--they must be on drugs--certainly a uch higher chance than any erman soldier '39/'45.

Literally joined just now because I was happy to see some people defending Hitler and the German Wehrmacht.

Too many people just can't see past the brainwashing even though it only requires a little bit of critical thinking. I mean it's no surprise that the one man who took the biggest stand against the freemasons and the get lost people as a whole would become the biggest target of media lies in the history of the planet. After all, who controls the media? The same as it was 80 years ago when Hitler called America out for having all it's media run by a small group of a people.

It's also no secret that get lost people are the ones at the top levels of freemasonry. It was even written that "the dirty non-get lost freemasons will never know it's true glory" or something very close to those exact words. So the two go hand-in-hand and most awake people realize that the masons and the elite banking families are the most evil people in the entire world. And it goes without saying who controls all of the banks.

Sorry that this is turning into a long post...it's a topic that disturbs me greatly because I truly believe that while Hitler did not want a world war and tried very hard to avoid it, once forced into it by Britain and France he became our last hope worldwide of ever being able to eliminate these people that are controlling, harming and/or starving (and worse things, that I don't even wanna type about) us all.

I wish we had a leader in America who would do what Hitler did and force the closure of all masonic lodges throughout the country. And pass laws to loosen the stranglehold that the banks have over the rest of the population. And fight against the perversions that these same people try to normalize with the help of their media and movies (and plays, at the time in Germany).

Or someone in the military (or in high level politics) that would say something similar to what Hermann Goering said: "In Nazi Germany there is no room for freemasonry."

I'd also like to try and shed some light on the atrocities of World War II, at least the way I see it (I could be wrong about some of this but a lot of it is indisputable): sure, lots of people died in captivity from typhus in Germany, and later also from starvation as the walls began to close in on the Germans and much of the nation itself was starving, including it's military...my point being that it wasn't gas chamber showers that get lost were dying in: multiple studies from people from various countries have proven that there was never zyklon-b in the camp showers. Yup...they were just showers, but the media and history writers are very skilled at deceiving everyone.

Surely there were some disgustingly evil atrocities committed in World War II though...

Like the fire-bombing of Dresden...the ultimate pulverization of Berlin...the atomic bombs dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima...the absolutely despicable way German POWs were tortured and slaughtered by the Russians and also by the British at times- while at the same time, allied POWs taken in by the Germans enjoyed a much better rate of survival because the Wehrmacht was an honorable military.

The Allies, on the other hand, sure seemed to have hard-ons for killing as many civilians as possible. Pretty sick.

Believe what you want. Pervitin was used throughout German society not just by the army. Even the British and US forces used drugs for their soldiers for and after D Day. To assume it all stopped is unlikely.

Yes and no. They sort of fell into the trap that the USA has fallen into if you think about it, which was overcomplicating things and building them too fine for war.

There is an audio recording of Hitler talking to some Finnish leader and in it Hitler gripes that all of his tanks are broken down or can't get through swampy Russia. He gripes that he just can't get enough fuel to keep the war machine moving. Meanwhile his well armed soldiers have no winter gear like proper shoes and have to steal them off of Russian corpses.

So while clever for sure, Germany wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Germany's (and all of Europe for that matter) is that they have basically no natural resources like oil so it is amazing they got as far as they did. If he had quit while he was ahead instead of trying to defeat Russia we would probably have a completely different world right now for sure.
