when in my 70's, now in my 80's I experimented with this and it is real. Took some time and got severe headaches but got there. I could move my discs from as far as 10 miles, failed at 30, but it is real. Also when you do this, you get OBE's which scared our cats, they can see the essence of you when you are leaving the body. Further, it can effect others around you, what you have done transfers on a higher level to others up to and including effecting vitals. When I pulled away, others near me stopped experiencing as well.

You know when you get there, it is like electrical effects going up the spine. I only relate this and it was real. I have. lost a lot of this due to stresses living on the earth plane, but it is as real as hell. I was a science teacher and set up experiments to show if outside influences were a factor and no, it was due to mind influence.
