Re: IMPORTANT: Romans 13 - an interpretation you haven't heard before
Given the gravity of misunderstanding Romans 13, this video is well worth the 7 minutes (or 3.5 minutes on 2X speed) of your time.

For those of you who insist on a synopsis for every video, you will not be disappointed by watching. He'll explain why the powers given to government are not universal, and that they have clear limits as defined in the Scriptures.

It is not always a sin to defy or disobey government. Romans 13 is not the only passage in the Bible -- there are thousands and thousands of other passages one must consider when forming their worldviews.
 Quoting: Shark150

why form your world view based upon a book with so many inconsistencies and used by religious people to control with imaginary punishments from a god that loves them?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80500916

What inconsistencies? What imaginary punishments?

You are bang on, I totally agree. We are instructed to come out of that system btw. Flee from it my people... to the mountains in the last days, which I believe are here.
 Quoting: -Kate-

The Bible covers 4000+ years of God's interaction with mankind from Creation to Revelation - just before John's death.

People blabber of "the lack of contemporary evidence" knowing FULL WELL that....

1. Starting after Jesus' death, the Pharisees did everything possible to derail the growth of Christianity.

AND the Romans spent the 290 years between Christ's death and Contantine's "vision" KILLING Christians.

2. Manuscripts, at the least, have lasted through...

-the Roman destruction of Israel & other wars in the Middle East of the 1st / 2nd Century
-the 200+ years of Roman persecution of Christians and Hebrews that began with Nero
-the "trinitarian" changes made to the Bible beginning around Tertullian's time
-the invasions / expansion of Islam that began after Muhammad's death in 632 AD

Arheists expect that Jesus miracles to be recorded in a pile of ancient tabloid journals somewhere?

Even the Christ-hating Pharisees mention Jesus in the Talmud.

Even IF we didn't have manuscript fragments dating back to the 2nd century, scholars could "piece together" the 4 Gospels just from the writings of various church fathers.

---AD 96 Clement Bishop of Rome quotes / refers to 11 books used for the New Testament including Matthew, Mark and Luke.

---AD 108 Ignatius Bishop of Antioch quotes / refers to 24 books used for the New Testament including all 4 Gospels.

---AD 110 Polycarp Bishop of Smyrna quotes / refers to 18 books used for the New Testament including all 4 Gospels.

On TOP of that, there is a growing consensus that the first writings of the Gospels were in Hebrews & Aramaic.
 Quoting: Servant-of-the-LORD

That’s why I’m not a Christian anymore, I left churchianity a few years back. The 12 disciples were called the Natsarim, they were all persecuted and killed by the Romans, fed to the lions in the Roman Colosseums.

Watch this to learn about their history.

I have heard of it before cause I had same interpretation, was actually why I left my old church . They used romans 14 as an excuse not to gather anymore for groups studies or church. Now they’re open but your not allowed sit with anyone you don’t come with.

How can you have faith in Christ yet depend more on a mask and social distancing scientifically proven not to work? Never read scripture that said “ The mask is your rock and fortress”

It’s a crutch weak or blind pastors use to submit rather then cause a lil problem for their reputation.

Pay your taxes and follow the law, unless the authority or their law would make you sin against God. For instance, if an authority wants you to call him god or tries to force you to pray to another “god” beside the Father…..you are to disobey that. Nowhere does it say rebel, however.

It's simple. If the authorities give you laws and commands that don't line up with God's Laws and commands in His word, then you're not obligated to follow them.

If the 'authorities' are telling me to inject something in my 'temple' that we all know is meant to harm or kill, why should I obey them?

The main issue is obey the authorities by doing good and avoid doing evil so as to keep order in society. We're talking about basic things such as 'do not murder, lie, cheat, steal' etc.

Authorities appointed by God should also submit to the greater Authority which is God. They shouldn't be lying, murdering, stealing, etc. If this happens, God will remove and reappoint new authority.

Romans 13
1 Let every being be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from Elohim, and the authorities that exist are appointed by Elohim.

2 So he who opposes the authority withstands the institution of Elohim, and those who withstand shall bring judgment on themselves.

3 For those ruling are an object of fear, not to good works, but to evil. Do you wish to be not afraid of the authority? Do the good, and you shall have praise from it,

4 for it is a servant of Elohim to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid, for it does not bear the sword in vain. For it is a servant of Elohim, a revenger to execute wrath on him who practises evil.

NO UPRISING.

Zeph 3:8

77.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77215329

What's your point in quoting Zeph 3:8?

Zephaniah 3:8 is about the consequences of
unrepentant disobedience against God, not
about uprising against civil authorities.
Both the civil authorities and people were
culpable.

There is no legitimate authority that disobeys God.

Elijah wasn't in subjection to Ahab and Jezebel.
The opposite, and a good thing.

It ended badly for them.

Good video, BTW, which accurately conveys the
limits on human authority, and the necessity
for good hermeneutics.

(2) the main business of government is to protect these rights;
(3) if a government tries to withhold these rights, the people are free to revolt and to set up a …

I’m sure not against the writings of Paul, but I do think THE CHURCH, twisted and changed some of his writings to deceive people. He was a scholar before his transformation, so somethings he says are hard to understand. Peter even warned us about this happening btw.

2 Peter 3:16
16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

I should mention, that I always refer back to our Messiah’s teachings if It looks like there’s a contradiction in Paul’s writings.

I guess we should all be thanking you for setting us all straight then huh? No thanks. God isn't backing up your words, sorry. I serve God with my life, but Paul was a fool. Some people need to learn to actually seek God instead of relying completely on a book written and compiled by men over hundreds of years. God is not bound at all by the bible in terms of who He is or what He can do. Song of Solomon is a book about two people lusting after each other and admiring the other person's looks and scent. What does that have to do with true love? Nothing. Did you ever even wonder why that book is even in the bible since it has nothing to do with lasting committment, meaningful marriage, and real love? I guess not.

Yes there is truth in the bible, but there are many contradictory statements and false truths as well. God told Jonah to go to Nineveh and tell them their city would be destroyed in 40 days. Was it destroyed? Nope. According to the bible, anyone who speaks a prophecy that doesn't come true is a false prophet and they should be ignored. Was Jonah a false prophet? Nope. Wake up, you are just making yourself look stupid.

Anybody can run around on forums spouting verses and acting like they know everything, why don't you spend that time actually learning something real instead? The bible contains stories of God telling people to marry prostitutes, lay on their side for over a year, and wear rotten underwear on their heads, yet everybody thinks God can be understood while sitting in a church pew drinking Starbucks.

Jesus spent his ministry overturning tables and ridiculing the religious know-it-alls of the time right to their faces. You fools posting stupidity in this thread better get your heads out of your asses before it's too late for you. It makes no difference to me what you choose to do with this info, because I'm only posting this because I feel like it. I need nothing from you, so don't make the mistake of thinking I care about how you respond to this or any other post I make. You have nothing to offer me, if you did God would be backing up your words and using them to convict my heart. That isn't what's happening.

Great post! I am glad to see there are other Christians like myself that recognize the Lord never told the church to spread their cheeks when it came to government authority over them.
My Hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness...

This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. John 3:16-18 (The Message)

 Quoting: -Kate-

Jesus healed on the sabbath because he was Lord of the sabbath. The father doesn’t stop working on Saturdays, neither did Jesus. It’s a confirmation of His deity.

The sword that Jesus brought was a spiritual one, not a metal one. The sword of truth divides families, homes and people. They either come into the kingdom of God, or stay as they are in the kingdom of man. That’s why both Jesus and John told them the kingdom was nigh, on their midst etc. Jesus was the stone of Daniel 2 that hit the statue of the kingdoms of man, growing to become an eternal kingdom that will not pass away, and ultimately destroying the kingdoms of man. THAT’s your revolution.

He healed on the Sabbath, and even in a temple.
He let his followers eat, as well.
He came to start a revolution!!
 Quoting: Jannicke

That’s definitely happening today on a global scale.

Luke 12:53
“The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.”

Matthew 10:34-36
Not Peace, but a Sword
34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household.

I’m totally in agreement with you. I know it’s a spiritual sword, battle, war. :)
Ecclesiastes 1:9
9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

Re: IMPORTANT: Romans 13 - an interpretation you haven't heard before
There are only a few verses which one could use a guidance. The rest is brainwash. They dont even teach in churches that the whole bible isnt meant to be interpreted literally. There is even one verse stating it. Its a parable, otherwise wisdom and knowledge wouldnt be able to be transmitted onto the people.
The council of nicea and what not made the bible into what it is now, along with countless translations and revisionists editting it to fit the linguistical evolution. Salvation wont come neither from praying, nor from putting the so called armor of God on. Meditation is the only solution. Old wine has to be discared and new wine has to be put into you.
Make whatever you want out of it. You have given your keys away... Now guess what the actual meaning of a key is..

The key is turning from sin and living a righteous life. Followers should look completely differently then the unbelievers. As does the Kingdom that’s coming to earth, it won’t look anything like what we see today. Back to the garden is what New Jerusalem will be. To the city gates His children will go!
