Bible Characters A-Z (have fun with this) :O)

Zeke aka Ezekiel, one of the most interesting prophets in the Old Testament.

Abigail, who had a "beast" of a husband (Nabal) who incredulously wronged and insulted David (without cause), after David did him a kindness. The bottom line, is that Abigail saved her sawwy husband from David's wrath. God stepped in and extinguished that sawwy husband. Then David stepped in and married Abigail. He was a very wise man.

"Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house." -Proverbs 17:13

"He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, will suddenly be destroyed and that without remedy." -Proverbs 29:1

Nabal essentially brought a curse on himself, and he met with sudden destruction.

God "removed him".

Nabal was a foolish, and willfully blind-as-a-bat man.

Boaz, saw Ruth working in his field (he was a very rich man) and he asked if anyone knew her. He was told that she accompanied Naomi back there to Naomi's home country, and thaf Ruth had forsaken her own people and her own god and her own religion to do so.

Boaz was drawn to Ruth for her devotion to Naomi, and that she had left all that she knew and loved behind to accompany Naomi and to adopt Naomi's people as her own and Naomi's God as her own.

God granted Ruth favor in Boaz's eyes, and he proposed to Ruth and they were married.

Boaz was a noble and righteous man of God.

I find it fascinating how so many white people adopted this Middle Eastern religion, fascinating, how did this come about?

Cyrus, a king and in essence, the ruler of the world, who conquered Babylon, was an unlikely hero for an oppressed people. God used, of all people, King Cyrus the Great to free the oppressed people of Israel.

It was foretold in the book of Isaiah that King Cyrus would do this.

"The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes." -Proverbs 21:1

Fair enough question.

Just curious....How much do you know about this "religion"? And what are your thoughts on the God of this "religion".

David, a man after God's own heart, grew up in the ruggedness of outdoors, as a shepherd. He was scorned by his seven older brothers, and was merely an "after-thought" for his seven older brothers, and also his father Jesse.

In this very "scorned" state, David developed a relationship with the living God.

God uses "rejection" to draw us to Him. And after we look back, we can "see" how He blessed us and turned that rejection into blessings.

He literally grows beauty from the ashes of rejection and pain.

Elijah, a prophet who challenged Jezebel's 800 priests in a show-down, to demonstrate the living God's power and might.

And God demonstrated it mightily as He shut down and slammed the absolute sham those 800 priests and their "gods" were.

Elijah was one of the two men in the Old Testament who did not die. Elijah was taken to heaven in a chariot of fire. The other man was Enoch. God just "took him".

Fearful Gideon. He was afraid of his savage and oppressive enemies, and he was threshing grain where he could not be seen by them, even though it caused him to work harder because the wind blew the grain away from him.

While he was threshing, an angel came and greeted him, calling him "mighty man of valor". He must've thought that he was hearin things or that that greeting was meant for someone else hahaaa.

But no, it was Gideon this angel greeted, even as Gideon was "hiding" from his enemies.

What i love about Gideon and how God "trained" him and with the utmost patience, is that Gideon emerged exactly what he was called by the angel, and that was a mighty man of valor.

A most unlikely hero.

Hosea - he was a man of God who demonstrated enormous grace and forgiveness to his wife, who was a harlot, and abused his grace.

Isaac - the long-awaited son of Abraham and Sarah, both waaaaay beyond their procreating years.

Joseph -Jesus' earthly father, who was one of the Godliest and most righteous men in the Bible. Yet there is little written about him.

King Saul -a sawwy excuse of a human being and king. There was a bona fide psychopath, right there in the Bible.

Lydia -a business woman, in Philippi, who was converted and said to be the first documented convert in Europe. She was also wealthy and hosted Paul and the other missionaries in her spacious house.

Marian, Moses' sister who conspired against Moses. God struck her with leprosy.

You left out Kevin.

Who was Kevin, pray tell?

Nathan, the prophet who chastised and confronted King David for his abominable sin.

Obadiah -a prophet.

Peter, the disciple that Jesus chose and used mightily in spite of the fact that he was a recovering cuss-er.

Quick-footed Elijah.....he out-ran a king's army.

(hahaaa who knew?)

Ruth- trusted God, and doors of blessings and favor opened to her and her mother in law Naomi.

Samson - he tragically lost his mind when he spilled out all his secrets to that treacherous snake of a woman, Delilah. She was his demise and the very death of him.

Phineas! Stuck a spear thru race mixers while they were humping!

Queen Esther risked her life to go before the king without being summoned.
