Re: Russia, Ukraine: Delusions and Reality
The ignorance and stupidity about Ukraine is astounding.

NOTHING has changed in the Ukraine for something like 7? years.

Russian troops occupy Crimea and separatists, now with Russian passports, control eastern Ukraine.

Ukraine was bitching about gas supplies and extorting downstream Russian customers to pay for the gas crossing Ukrainian territory.

America has been bitching about Nord Stream 2 linking Russia and Germany by bypassing Ukraine.

Russia doesn't need to do anything, they already control what they want unless Ukraine is threatening to take gas and not pay which would be a problem for the rest of Europe not just Ukraine.

Roll forward 6 or 7 years, wtf does anyone think has changed?

Ukraine? That's a big word.
It's not fucking Ukraine. it's the illegitimate government led by Jedi Zelensky.
"Ukrainians" are Russians by blood. and most don't want NATO, they want to live like they used to with Russia.

There's nothing to catch in Romania, that's why they haven't made an orange revolution there yet? you objectively don't know what you're talking about, CNN reporter.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26636968

To start with I am from Australia, don't make bad assumptions just because you see a flag.

Secondly, I know exactly what I am talking about. Go back 6 or 7 years and read all the news reports about what was happening and why. NOTHING has changed since then. Whoever is in control of the Ukraine hasn't clawed back one meter or the former Ukraine territory.

The Eastern border hasn't been controlled by the Ukrainian government for years. Neither has Crimea.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80873308

But what military actions are you talking about? As a result of which Crimea was conquered by Russia, and now Donbass is being conquered?
who cares where you are from - confirm your words with references to specific military actions - date, place. Speak in general phrases.
there were no military actions on the part of Russia, not a single one. "Ukrainians" with Russian blood, with relatives in Russia - after the 2014 coup in Kiev asked Russia for protection, held a referendum IN ACCORDANCE WITH INTERNATIONAL NORMS (otherwise why didn't Ukraine go to The Hague Court and revoke entry into Russia).
Is it possible to take away by war what is formalized by documents? Civilized people challenge the documents in court. Why is there no case in court? Do you have lawyers at all? or do you only understand force.

As for Luhansk and Donetsk - the Ukrainian armed forces bombed and shot peaceful civilians without weapons. Is this normal? Do you support this? Let your Australian government shoot you. Putin hesitated for a long time to support them (give them weapons to defend themselves), the Russians were outraged at his inaction. And Putin was hesitant to let people like you worry. But the atrocities of the Ukrainian military against peaceful civilians have crossed all boundaries. Many Russian people went to the Donbass to stand with their brothers.
And yes - hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians were granted Russian citizenship. Because they are Russian by blood. Do you even want to take that right away from them?
By defending the actions of the Ukrainian government after 2014 - you yourself are a criminal. Let you suffer the same fate, maybe then you will understand.

Zelensrky is a clown, but Ukraine is a country, small but country. Ukrainians have a right to speak their language, culture and land. Not everyone wants to be under Putin.

Does that include all those in the East with Russian heritage who spoke Russian and were taught Russian in school or do you think it was right that Russian was outlawed in Ukraine?

Do you agree when a part of a country wants to secede or is it only ok when they want to leave Russia?

But Trump still lives in US, Yanukovych is Putin's neighbor now in Russia, like a true rat. There are still some people who support Trump, but all Ukrainians hate Yanik.

Re: Russia, Ukraine: Delusions and Reality
Russians dominate in EW (Electronic Warfare), and Navy. They also have the most tanks.

Their Murmansk-BN severerly cripples the avionics of moderns aircraft, greatly reducing communication abilities, guidance, targeting, etc..

Their Borei class submarines alone could decimate the East Coast without being detected, and that's not counting the 3M22 Tsirkon scramjet manuveurable nuclear missiles that can easily penetrate defenses.

Don't be fooled. The US are very flashy, Hollywood, glamour, money, celebrity status, etc. I see the Russians as practical, pragmatic, and I'm concerned about the arrogance of the West.

Russians: If you read this and you plan on attacking America, it would be kind of you to remember not all westerners are anti-Russian. Most are sick and tired of our leaders corruption and control over us, their ever growing need for power and control as it's recently been made more obvious with their vaccine mandates and passports.

But know that if you Russians have the same corrupt agenda, eventually ordinary citizens will rise up guerilla style and wage war against you.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78881850

Here we go again with this song about attacking Ukraine and the United States...
What reason do you have for thinking that? Don't listen to NATO (remember, who heads NATO is not the Americans).
Russia can only fire if a missile flies at Russia. We will not strike first.
We understand very well the difference between citizens and government. We too had a fucked up government that sold out the country in the 90's.
As for corruption in Russia - corruption has been and always will be all over the world, the question is scale. Today in Russia it is the most popular criminal article - law enforcement agencies get big bonuses for detecting corruption, so there is much less corruption today than in the early 2000s.
we have a database of corrupt people who have been jailed - [link to corrypcii.net (secure)]
here on the government website - constantly updated [link to gossluzhba.gov.ru (secure)]

They put them in jail and put them in jail, and they steal and steal. Why should they be shot like in China? Putin will not bring back the death penalty in Russia. He said that to bring up children with the death penalty means to bring up cruelty in them.

Re: Russia, Ukraine: Delusions and Reality
People worry about the Russians using tactical nukes in Ukraine. It's not Putin they should worry about. The Russians have the overwhelming advantage with their conventional arms and it will be a cakewalk. The only way for the Russians to be stopped is for Biden to use nukes and he will. Yes, the clown is that crazy.
 Quoting: Skorpio

There is an old prophecy of Russia advancing into Europe on three fronts and getting all the way to France.

There is no good reason that if Russia was to cross the line and actually invade the "greater" (as in more than Crimea and eastern separatist areas) country of Ukraine that it would stop there.

fuck.
So your accusation that Putin is going to attack someone is based on ancient prophecies? LOL
then i can't change your mind. live with your fears without seeing the true enemy

Are you incapable of reading???

I said that Russia has no reason to invade as it already controls Eastern Ukraine and Crimea and if it wanted more than Eastern Ukraine and Crimea, in this case all of Ukraine, wtf would it risk all out war for just Ukraine?

IF, IF, IF, IF, IF it invaded and went after more than Eastern Ukraine and Crimea I am saying it would make sense to go after much more because it will have started one hell of a fight.

So to summarize, I doubt Russia will invade UNLESS it is to protect those who no longer want to be part of Ukraine and the Ukrainian military is attacking those areas with full force.

Even then I doubt it will try to get all of Ukraine.

My point is if it wanted all of Ukraine it might as well go all out and keep going.

Let me put it in an American perspective.

Live in peace is always a matter of perspective.

Let's say that California has so many Mexican immigrants that they vote to secede from America. Do you think America would allow that or do you think it would lead to war?

What if there were so many Cuban Immigrants in Florida that Florida wanted to secede and become part of Cuba?

What if there were so many Muslims in Belgian that they voted to become an Islamic republic? The capital of the EU an Islamic republic?

None of that is too far fetched but what would be the response? Would they simply say sure, leave, we respect your wishes and will just let you go?

In America there is no legal mechanism for a State to secede. It was part of the problem with the civil war.

So live in peace is relative. Those who want to be with Russia have the numbers in the Oblasts and can win a vote to secede but does the Ukrainian Government or the other Ukrainian citizens agree? Will they also be at peace if those Oblasts leave?

If the Muslims have the votes to make Belgium an Islamic republic will the Christians of Belgium be at peace and happy?

It is difficult for everyone to be happy and when it is happening on a geopolitical level there tend to be consequences.

Biden needs this war. He's unpopular. Country is divided. Nothing rallies a country together like a good old fashioned war. It worked for other presidents.

Yep, and we saw how he treat our soldiers and he left people behind with all our equipment. Not many people want to follow this idiot no matter who he is.

By the way, Russia and Ukraine are going to meet to have some talks about their own problem which is the mature way to work on problems.
