Two years of cluster F thanks to a Wuhan lab dumpster fire... and we have infected monkeys just being hauled around by Jethro the last mile monkey delivery man (because his fares were the cheapest), in a standard tow-behind (unmarked) cargo trailer, on icy roads, taking the longest route, along the entire population dense Eastern seaboard of the United States? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 81815776 Seems legit. Follow-up Question: Is this sort of cargo transport so common that there's a distribution center in NY where they get sent out from... or could we not get the special order of infected monkeys a direct flight from South Africa to Florida and cut out the middle man? If this is common, maybe this is the sort of thing Congress should spend time regulating versus inventing new ways to harass the average shlub trying to live their lives to avoid monkey business. ya. So many more follow-up questions... Was this trailer strictly designated for infected monkey transport, or was it a side-hustle for the driver in-between produce deliveries to local bodegas in NYC? Does the lab take into account that the trailer may have been used the week before to ship infected pangolins to Omaha so their controls are possibly contaminated with something else? What are the interstate commerce laws regarding infected monkey logistics, but USPS is gonna give me shit and have me sign an affidavit because I want to ship a jar of hot sauce to a relative? |

[link to www.khon2.com (secure)] Quoting: Golbez Look at the picture on this story. The scene seems wrong. I've seen a lot of truck accidents in my time over the road and local. The amount of debris on the road and why the monkeys are being exposed to the outside air makes me wonder what is going on. Animals such as these would need to be in a temperature controlled truck. Unless the dump truck struck the trailer and made a hole those monkeys should still be in that trailer staying at temp. The route makes sense as animals can not be confined more than X hours inside trailers. If they had gone down 95 they would have hit massive traffic and delayed. So the route makes sense. For those who don't know DC Philly and NYC are terrible for traffic even at off rush hours. Really you are only going to go through fast late night very early morning. I agree with the scene looking wrong. It looks staged. Very staged. Odd crates to transport a live animal. Even the box from Petco has more holes. And yes I realize I’m no expert. Just doesn’t make sense with how the boxes are sitting. Intentionally. |

Conjunctivitis is a symptom of monkey pox, and a hundred other things. But this was right after exposure to aerosolized mucous from a 'hissing' monkey, so I suspect it is monkey pox. And we haven't discussed her nasty cough, it is a monkey pox symptom too. Here it is straight from the CDC: Examining Animals With Suspected Monkeypox [link to www.cdc.gov (secure)] Illness presentation may vary amongst animal species. Symptoms that were observed in prairie dogs during the 2003 U.S. outbreak included cough, history of fever, conjunctivitis, lack of appetite, respiratory signs, and rash. |

Driver who stopped to help when truck carrying 100 lab monkeys crashed in Pennsylvania and put her hand in one of the cages says she now has a cough and pink eye: CDC urges anyone in contact with the macaques to seek medical attention. Quoting: Dangerous Times A truck carrying around 100 monkeys that crashed in Pennsylvania is now sparking fears of infection after a woman who came into contact with the primates began to feel unwell. Michelle Fallon, from Danville near Scranton, was driving directly behind the vehicle when it crashed, throwing animal crates all over the highway and smashing some to pieces. Four of the animals escaped and were seen sitting among the wreckage before they fled. Fallon said she got out to help both the driver and the animals in their cages, initially believing them to be cats. When she approached and put her hand on the cage, she says the monkey hissed at her. The day following the accident, Fallon suddenly developed a cough and pink-eye, which became so bad that she had to visit the emergency room at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Fallon has been told to keep a close eye on her health for the next month in case she develops any infectious disease as a result of being so close to them. MORE [link to www.dailymail.co.uk (secure)] Stop calling them monkeys, its racist. #MLM My guess is they are headed to California where they will be given full rights and a condo in a sanctuary city. |

Out of curiosity I googled hemorrhagic fever pink eye and found this doomy bit. Quoting: Thorbulla Acute Hemorrhagic Conjunctivitis Outbreak Caused by Coxsackievirus A24 --- Puerto Rico, 2003. Acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis (AHC) is an epidemic form of highly contagious conjunctivitis and is characterized by sudden onset of painful, swollen, red eyes, with conjunctival hemorrhaging and excessive tearing.Jul 23, 2004 I did the same. [link to pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov (secure)] Recent findings: EVD causes ocular disease during acute infection and during convalescence. Acute patients manifest with conjunctivitis, subconjunctival hemorrhages, and acute vision loss of unclear cause. The most common complication during recovery is uveitis with live virus implicated in the pathogenesis in one case. John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. |

Guys the truck driver had more exposure... why isn't he covered in the news? Because it's bullshit. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77967640 Unless they had the antidote. The only way to get pink eye is dirty ass scratching and touching your eye. So if the monkey flung poo I'd believe it. |
