I don't think they have a choice in the matter. Half of Germany was occupied by Russia until 1989 too....
They're going to get roped in regardless, certainly as one of the losers of WW2 who are still answerable to the US Military and NATO like Japan is.
I don't have any expectations of Germany at all, and they know all of Putin's old gag since they worked together right up until Operation Barbarossa.
Germany and Russia divided up Poland TOGETHER. The Poles described it as the SAME FORCE entering from both sides of the country and decapitating people and doing a lot of other stuff too.

Russia just did whats logical after a war. not to forget they won that war. or at least made Germany lose, not with power but simply their weather and terrain..
