It works both ways. Why should someone sell to you at spot when they know darned well that silver is worth more.

Please share with the group where these secondary markets are? I am looking at Apmex and don’t have any reliable coin dealers.

I’m thinking that if the Fed raises rates stocks and metals crash in the spot market and bullion premium goes through the roof. If the Fed doesn’t raise rates and continues QE paper metals go back up but has no affect on physical market.

DISREGARD IF YOUR STATE DOES NOT CHARGE TAX ON PM's


It all depends on which state you live in if they tax PM's or not.

Do NOT listen to advice recommending you to particular sites, as all the big players are required to charge tax in certain states, when you can buy from a smaller shop online and avoid the tax, but usually pay a slightly higher cost...
Most times you are better off.

Apmex is high to begin with.

You will find some sites with cheaper prices from some stuff, and higher for others and vice-versa.

Most sites are just mainly dropshippers from one of a few spots in the US, Mainly Las Vegas as A-Mark is the main player in the game.


There is more to it, but this is the basic gist of it.
So if someone says 'Go buy from XXX METALS', without knowing what state you live in, they are already wrong for the most part as taxes can get pretty hefty.
There are ways around it shipping to family and such, but also some added risk involved.


(In before someone says something otherwise, and disregard if your state does not charge tax on PM's)
