Scientists are cheaper to buy than politicians.

The Distinction Must be Clear. There IS a Scientific Method.

Greed, fear, and the media

It's been going on since the 80s and 90s at least. Part of the reason I left the field. Journal review boards are stacked with leftists, so they decide what gets published. Academia has been corrupted. Grant money doesn't get issued to people who generate results contrary to a preconceived idea (like global warming).

Mann's Hockey Stick is the first research I remember that was widely accepted even though it violated the Scientific Method. I never accepted it for that fact. Mann would not publish his data and methods for others to replicate and verify. It had to be reverse engineered to uncover what he did (fudged his data).

It has gotten worse since then. Science is being bastardized to push an agenda. Things that were once undisputed scientific facts are being rewritten (such as sex chromosmes determining sex).

It is alarming because we saw this in the Soviet Union under TD Lysenko. Lysenko rejected Mendelian Genetics and since Lenin put him in charge of Science, those who disagreed were silenced, jailed or murdered. Rejecting Mendelian Genetics led to Soviet crop yields plummeting and it caused a food shortage. The people suffered and it took decades for the Soviet Union to recover from the damage post Lysenkoism.

Because pure science is not a profit center and depended on patrons for funding. Tax dollars and donations mostly.

The patreons create a large degree of the politics.

Even if you removed the money issue, humans are prideful and many will do all kinds of evil things to get ahead, this too adds to the politics.

Humans want to appear to be virtuous (back to the pride thing) so that can creep in.

Fundamentally the problem isn't science it's the humans operating the process and corrupting it. It's what we do

I don't think so. I knew more scientists who didn't buy into Global Warming then those who did. Also the majority of them belonged to some religion.

The big difference is that the lefty scientists are willing to do corrupt anti-science things to push a political agenda. Conservative types are just there to do science and keep their politics to themselves. Kind of like in real life. They don't last in Academia for that reason. If they do unbiased research that showed Global Warming was BS that would be about the last research they ever got funded.

Conservatives are generally the ones doing research for companies and corporations, where research is more results oriented and BS science is counterproductive to attaining a marketable product.

A nation wide lockstep lemming driven PSA campaign probably greenlit by the white house or other powers that be.
