Quoting: TrufSerumX You need them. Fats can increase calorie intake quickly, aid in brain function, immune support, and a number of biological processes. Fats do not however store well. While you can freeze butter for up to 24 months, store coconut oil for up to 18 months. A number a fats just do not offer the long term shelf life that OLD SCHOOL CRISCO DOES. Because it is a hydrogenated oil, a trans fat, and contains a number of preservatives it may not be ideal for everyday use, but in a SHTF scenario it could be invaluable. SHELF LIFE: UP TO 10 YEARS!! USES: Cooking, adding to dishes, increased calorie intake: DUH. Use on chapped skin. Use as a diaper rash aid. Excellent mechanical lubricant. Fire starter. Soap making. Lamp oil. Make a 40 day candle with a tub of crisco and just a string! Yup 40+ DAYS! So don't look down on a 6lb can of the stuff. Stock a few cans, maybe more. May save your life one day. Cheers. While I don't consume Crisco at all, I do have tubs of that shit literally for almost every reason you put down. Crisco also got my kids head out from being stuck between two rails on our homes staircase. So that is what you should stockpile. I have some crisco, but I also stock a lot of olive oil which can be frozen. I am also making an oil press where I can make my own oils out of seeds. I've heard you can even do this with acorns, but have yet to try it. Blue Horseshoe loves GLP |

Quoting: beeches it was developed as a lubricant for submarine periscopes, they say. Correct - according to some, it is terrible for your health and should be avoided as much as possible. Supposedly, it was developed as a submarine lubricant by the Germans and sold to Proctor and Gamble who then sold it as Crisco. They gave the American Heart Association a lot of money so they could claim it was good for you. I really would not want to depend on that as my source of fats. |
