Are sports fans the dumbest of the dumb?

It is like in the days of the Roman empire. The Coliseum where the gladiators put on a show was a distraction just like sports today is along with everything else. So the masses will be focused on not what the leaders are doing behind the scenes because the masses are focused on tv shows, movies, sports, and sport commentators and the Kardashians and music, etc.

And what is funny is all these demonstrations and marching on Washington is foolish and useful as a screen door on a submarine. The people in Washington are the puppets. They are all marching to the wrong place. And the powers that be are laughing.

It's a distraction from the political stupidity the media throws at us ad nauseum.

Besides watching a football game once in a while, I enjoy guitar, lifting, hiking, video games. Everyone needs a distraction.

You have an interesting argument, but you touched on a much larger group of people, as a herd, are really much more stupid. Its people who use fakebook, twitter, and internet forums to express their opinions. ask rhetorical questions, or ask for any type of advise to a group of total stranger for the most part.

I would say "DUMB" is not the correct way to look at it. at least not for all of them. UNAWARE would be a better fit. I used to actually watch and to some extent even enjoy football and some other sports... that is until my awareness spiked as it seemingly is doing for many more as the days progress. It became obvious how contrived it all was. bread and circuses etc... just another mindless distraction to keep people distracted and to some extent, Polarized in an us vs them mentality. I look at who I once was and it is what it is. once you truly see it all for what it is, you really can't unsee that lol. so I haven't watched the nfl for example in at least a couple years now maybe more. dumb would imply they can never see beyond it. lower conscious awareness is a better fit simply because for some of them, they will eventually move beyond it and utterly lose interest as well. That's not to say, that in higher consciousness one can no longer enjoy playing or even watching some sports, it's just that a lot of the aspects of today's "Pro" sports are seen for what they are... highly funded distractions that are mostly contrived and pointless.

Keep them entertained. Like when Rome was collapsing.

It’s pretty sad that watching other men on tv is the default “guy” activity. We should have bare knuckle boxing instead.
