Survived COVID - PTSD
My first post here… I’m a middle aged woman who came down with covid the beginning of the year and was hospitalized for more than 2 weeks with pneumonia. Closest I’ve ever come to death. I wasn’t vaccinated. Not sure I trust it. The virus claimed my mother this last week also so mourning that horrible loss as I heal. Now I’m wondering how I’m going to cope moving forward. I don’t think I’d survive another bout with COVID. I can’t seem to get a straight answer on immunity. The internet is full of so much contradictory information. Looking for words of advice and wisdom on how to lose this PTSD and get back to living my life.

I don’t think I want the vax - is there some solid evidence on immunity? Should I be worried about catching it again?

Re: Survived COVID - PTSD
I know exactly what your going thru, apart from loosing anyone to Covid Virus. The illness and hospitalization and having my husband and I both ended up in hospital, him for a month, and I a week. We both were unvaxed, and still remain, because we know too many that were harmed by vaccine or booster. We are called long haulers. Takes time to recover. The fear and vulnerability is unsettling until you realize you have to fight to live and get better. For us, the virus made us aged and weaker, while sick, we got pneumonia, but also worse, the virus was killing our red bloodcells that carry oxygen, almost like a cancer, eventually are immune systems kicked in, and we were half way to being anemic. Supplemental oxygen from wall and oxy flow helped us get by. Never were we vented or in ICU, but so close. Very scary when you almost have no control, but we got help, and had good doctors giving us antibiotics, steroids, inhalers, vitamins C, D and B complex with zinc, and mucinex, tylenol, and lots of tissue to get the mucus out. We were a lucky pair. We hope next round if ever will be cake work. HUGS to you. So sorry for your loss.

PS.

We learned while in hospital that 60 to 70% of ICU vented Covid patients were double jabbed and some triple jabbed. The vaccines doesn't work. Any vaxed person can get Covid, get sick or not and still spread Covid. And I asked my Benefit friends in the health insurance industry, knowing full well, they see and know all in billing and claims. I told them what the ICU respiratory care nurse told me and they confirmed they were seeing the same things, it's true, Vaxed are ending up in ICU fighting Covid on vents just as equal or more as unvaxed.

This brings me to an important part. You got sick, don't punish yourself. Some things can't be prevented. Take each day to stay and get healthy, and don't ake any rattles of pain or odd feelings for granted, get checked out. Prevention and early care is essential. Most harmed by Covid19 was due to failed primary care or no care at all. Also, Wait until a real, well tested and proven vaccine comes out. I would recommend talking to your doctor about a pneumonia shot. My husband and I got one to reduce our chances of pneumonia.

PSS. mask do not work, they just make it harder to breath.

Re: Survived COVID - PTSD
Dear OP,
I am a middle aged woman whose whole family had Covid for 30 days. There were nights I thought we may all die. It was pretty scary.

We are 30 days out and feeling a little better but I’m still sleeping extra hours. My son seems to be hit hardest.

Of course because it was so bad I’m scared too that we will be hit again by a different strain. Because last time was so bad I can’t hardly think about going through that month again.

You are a long hauler. So are we. However. God is good snd we made it through.

Pray for us. I will pray for you. We will get through this together.

Re: Survived COVID - PTSD
Thank you for your responses. I didn’t know about the pneumonia vaccine - though it looks like it’s more for bacterial. In the hospital I only had viral - but my poor mother had both. I’ll ask my doctor about it…

I’ve been out of the hospital 11 days now and living with my dad. He’s helping to rehabilitate me while the whole family mourns the loss of my amazing mom. May God grant her peace.

Thank you all!

Re: Survived COVID - PTSD
Thank you - will check them out. I read a few articles this past week and was happy to see that there’s evidence that natural immunity may be long lasting. Really not feeling good about the vax.

Geezo - just realizing now this is a NIH article. :(

But it does say natural immunity is long lasting. Go figure!
