3 Cases of Lassa Fever now in UK 1 dead

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) confirmed the death on Friday after revealing three people in Britain had become infected on Thursday.

A Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust spokesperson said: “We confirm the sad death of a patient at our trust, who had confirmed Lassa fever. We send our deepest condolences to their family at this difficult time.

What are the symptoms of Lassa fever?
Symptoms can include:

bleeding in the gums, nose, eyes, or elsewhere
difficulty breathing
a cough
swollen airways
vomiting and diarrhoea, both with blood
difficulty swallowing
hepatitis
swollen face
pain in the chest, back, and abdomen
shock
hearing loss
abnormal heart rhythms
high or low blood pressure
pericarditis
tremors
encephalitis
meningitis
seizures
