I know there are words about slaves in the song. Not many people even know the words. I live in KY, I am a transplant from the North. Even most native Kentuckians don't know the original words, they may know the words they changed them to. But, I have read the original words & he references Darkies.. Stephen Foster also wrote songs about Ole Suzanna & Old Man River. He was a strange dude! |
