Anonymous Coward User ID: 75773598 United States 02/19/2022 01:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've got two male cats. One I have had for just over 2 years - feral kitten rescue. The other 7 months old - feral kitten rescue. Quoting: FightForGod! 2 year old is neutered, 7 month is not yet. Up until last month everything was GREAT! They got along well, slept next to each other, played - everything was perfect. Well, in the last month that has all changed. The 7 month old is VERY aggresive now and keeps biting the older cat on the neck. He just latches on until I make him stop. He has never bitten or even swatted at me. But the HUGE problem is the litter boxes. This 7 month old has the strongest urine I have ever smelled. I clean the boxes every day but my house still reeks. It's him 100%. And now, he has peed on my bed for the third time this month! He never did it before. No accidents anywhere in the house. I woke up this morning to the older cat pawing at the pillow next to me and when I turned on the light I could see it had just been peed on! The 7 month old was hiding somewhere, I know he did it. So, I got to wash the bedding again. Why is he doing this? Will getting him fixed stop it or do I just need to put him outside permanently? I can put up with a lot of bad behavior, but peeing on my bed 3 times, that's his 3rd strike!!! Thats your first misunderstanding sweety Thats not YOUR bed its his lol cats, you gotta love em |

A non fixed Male cat will spray the walls around and over the litter box and you will never get a deposit back if in a rental unit. Just open the door and let the cats out if you live in a safe area... Soundman |

I went through the same thing w/ my big maine coon. He's fine now. Thank you! That's a relief. I will make an appointment Monday. Anonymous Coward User ID: 81921801 Russia 02/19/2022 02:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is extremely cruel to cut cat's perfectly working body parts. A cat is not your toy. Release him before you hurt him. It is horrifying what has become acceptable as "normal". For all of you who posted "neuter him", how would you like to be abducted (in this or a reincarnation) and be forcefully "neuter" against your will. Cats aren't object. Leave the poor cat alone. Put him outside as you have already been told, OP. |

Or they will act like crazy wild animals in your home and that is impossible to tolerate. Just get them both fixed, OP. Try not to get them vaccinated though. Once he pisses outside the litter box, it’s over. He’ll piss outside the litter box FOREVER. And carpet or furniture will need to be replaced. You’ll think you got the smell out by scrubbing, but a hint of piss will follow you forever. I’d get him neutered, yesterday. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 7061310 United States 02/19/2022 02:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I had a cat who all of a sudden started peeing on my bed. He had always been great with using the litter box and this just started out of nowhere. After several times of him doing it I decided to take him to the vet. I truly believed it was a behavior issue and he was mad at me for something. It turned out he had crystals in his urine and and UTI. He went through a course of antibiotics and it never happened again. I had to feed him a certain type of food to help prevent future UTI's and crystals. He was back to his same ol' self after the course of antibiotics and never had one again. I miss that little dude! He passed away about 5 years ago when he was 16. My vet told me that cats have a tendency to pee outside of the litter box if something like that is wrong. |

I can put up with a lot of bad behavior, but peeing on my bed 3 times, that's his 3rd strike!!! yes, getting him fixed WILL stop it. you also need to get rid of those sheets. The smell may seem gone to you, but cats have a keen sense of smell. And, if the pee got on the mattress, you need to get rid of it too. Or, if you don't have the money, treat it with cat smell remover and flip it over once it's dry. The aggression will stop immediately with the neutering. This is simply a result of territorial behavior due to increased testosterone production. Cat's just get that way. But neutered cats calm down. Also, the older they get, the calmer. Most cats are totally mellow by 3 years old. The strong smell absolutely goes away with the neutering. Be sure to let the vet know about this aggressive behavior and strong smell before they do the surgery. They will probably do a more thorough job with the scent glands if they know the cat will be homeless unless they get it right. I have a cat with this problem, and he still tries to spray on very rare occasions, but he can't produce the smell anymore. I have no idea what the vet did there. Also, get rid of the pillow that he peed on. I'm telling you for sure, the bedding MUST be REPLACED. All a faded smell does is let them know they need to mark it again. Remember, this kitty is peeing on your bed because he loves you and is marking his territory to keep predators away from you. I know it's silly, but that's how cats show love. You can encourage him to mark his territory in the litter box only. And he will 100% outgrow this. Patience. He just loves you so much he wants to protect you. It's your job to teach him how to express that right. Experience: I'm an old crazy cat woman now and I've adopted and tamed two feral male kitties, one of them as an adult. I think you know how difficult that can be. I promise you, you can fix this We're being pecked to death by a duck. |

User ID: 79545869 United States 02/19/2022 02:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP, lemme guess, you're a female? If so, it is likely that your male cat is marking his territory, which includes you. You could always get a very large dog crate, and keep your offending cat that pees a lot in there for a few months. Get plexiglass sheets if he sprays through the bars. And he will have his own personal litter-box too. Also there is a spray enzyme to neutralize the urine smell. One product comes with a UV flashlight to identify exactly where the urine spray has occurred. “Queen Sarah, save us from the Black Dog King!” - from the play, Dissocia [link to tasaonline.org.au (secure)] "Never be anyone's French poodle." - Mr Hamilton |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 59029961 United States 02/19/2022 02:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is actually thinking that the neutered cat is a female and trying to mate with him. That's how male cats mate. The hold the female cat by the neck so that she will not escape, because female cats don't want to get pregnant but are submissive when they get held by the neck. |

The reason why the litters are so large is because they respond biologically to take advantage of abundant food, and expect a high mortality rate. If all the strays were rescued and saved, there would be more of them than mice. Incidentally cats naturally hunt ground-nesting song birds, if kept outside. “Queen Sarah, save us from the Black Dog King!” - from the play, Dissocia [link to tasaonline.org.au (secure)] "Never be anyone's French poodle." - Mr Hamilton |

User ID: 76388104 United States 02/19/2022 02:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A friend of mine has two cats. Male and female. Male is 4 years old. Female is 3 years old. My friends were fine with two cats. Did not plan on another. The cats got along. Male is neutered. Female is spayed. In July, 2021, they saw a tiny cat in their yard every day. They trapped it, took it in....took it to the vet and planned to give it away to a good home. A female. But they could not find someone to adopt her. She's very sweet. Used the litter box from day one. As the months went by, they were hoping the 3 year old female cat would accept the little one. She hasn't yet. They even had the little one spayed and did their best to have the older female accept her. Nothing has worked. The adult female beats on the little one every chance she gets. The male cat adored the little one from the start. In fact, he almost seems protective of her. Now, six months later, the adult female still hasn't accepted the little one, so it looks like I'm going to take her in. Last Edited by nutmeg on 02/19/2022 02:57 PM |

Like I said put the cats outside and let them pee where cats like to pee AWAY FROM DEN where they sleep ! Cats don't like to live around pee they mark the territorial borders with pee to keep away other animals. Cats like to hunt they hunt , then clean, then sleep in this cycle but not like other animals who live in pee or filth. Put those babies outside make a way for them to go in and out said cats can hunt and pee and be happy coming into for water , bed . |
