My reason was chemicals.. terrible care of food animals and more... I felt better when I got those chemicals out of my body in fact.

after a tornado in our mid west.. don't remember the state... a roof was ripped off over a barn of momma pigs which where kept between rails for the entire nursing period of the piglets.. that is unacceptable and quite an eye opener for me at that time. how would YOU like to stand for several weeks and pee and shit in the same place... no exercise etc.
