You CAN survive nuclear war if you know a few simple things to do. Two Japanese men survived both Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs because they did these things. One taught the Nagasaki police dept and they had no casualties from the bomb:

- When you see the initial FLASH duck & cover for 3-5 minutes until the shockwave hits. Get away from windows! People died from 300mph glass shards looking for the source of the flash.
- Go to a basement or interior room under a desk. Put books, food, anything on top and around the desk. These will absorb the radiation. The idea is to put as much distance and bulk between you and the outside.
- Stay in your shelter for 48 hours after the last bomb in your region. The radioactivity of fallout drops to safe levels after 24-48 hours.
- When you do go outside, wear an N95 mask so you don’t breathe in the dust. Take off your shoes and socks before re-entering your home or shelter.

The radioactivity from fallout lowers exponentially by the hour. Bombs aren’t like nuclear power plant melt downs, they explode in the air, not on the ground, so it doesn’t last decades like a Chernobyl.
