Crypto-currency trading platform Coinbase has blocked 25,000 wallet addresses related to Russia.

The platform said the addresses were related to Russian individuals or entities it believed to have engaged in illicit activity.

The addresses were blocked over fears crypto-currency could be used to evade sanctions.

Soooo...if a private Crypto company can cut you off...do you really feel safe doing business with them? What if you are suddenly deemed the "enemy" and your assets are stolen by a private company?
 Quoting: Bloody Peasant!

Please educate yourself. If you use your own hardware wallet they can't do jack. All they can do is shut down a 3rd party account because the third party own the keys to the wallet they host for you

Sane people only use an account at Coinbase when they are ready to sell. They don' keep significant balances in such an account

Wow, I thought more crypto peeps would be upset about this. Isn't the whole idea that it provides anonymity and security? Freely spend your crypto anywhere and be free from government intervention? Might as well just keep your money in the bank...
 Quoting: Bloody Peasant!

You are an idiot. We aren't upset about it at all. Lol
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77908971

But why? What's the point if it can just be taken away if they don't like your politics?
 Quoting: Bloody Peasant!

It can be taken from Coinbase as others mentioned.

1 buy crypto on Coinbase
2 create a wallet
3 transfer your crypto from Coinbase to wallet
4 for extra protection, exchange your crypto to a secure coin like Montero

The end

As others said, keeping your crypto in Coinbase is EXACTLY the same as keeping it in a bank

The entire crypto hysteria is backed up by mountains of propaganda and people who profit constantly off of the trade of crypto push that propaganda. If they admit the truth about crypto, that it's just another from of investment, it's slowly being taken over by governments, billionaires and big business and it's almost as vulnerable as a bank account now, people will get out of crypto, it will crash and those pushing it will loose money on their investments.

Just like real world markets, by keeping the bullshit up they keep their profits up and as a result, they will never admit the truth. At least not until they figure it's time to get out of the game and everybody dumb enough to stay in will loose everything. Mind you, that's just the nature of investing, it's all about making a profit. Anywhere you find investment opportunity you find people looking to profit and they will never be honest if it's going to affect their investments and profits.

With proxies, VeePeeN's and all how do they know who is really Russian?
 Quoting: ST. FLOYD OF FENTANYL

Exactly, how did theu know which wallets to seize? I'm not a crypto guy so I'm speaking from ignorance but my understanding is the allure of crypto was anonymity. If they know which wallets to seize they know who you are and therefore it's all bullshit.
 Quoting: Bloody Peasant!

Dude, not only are you speaking out of ignorance, but ppl in this thread explained it to you and you still don't get it.

It's like my mentally challenged friend that works at taco bell (he really is downs, but can wipe tables) talking to me about getting his paycheck.

All he knows is that when he gets his paycheck (??) His career buys him shoes or pants or something. He has no idea.

Now, I don't blame him, he has downs... But, dude, you don't appear to have downs.

Read the replies in this thread and try to figure it out.

Of course, maybe you do have downs. It's cool... Just stick with taco bell, it's easier to figure out.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77908971

I actually do have downs. Thanks for being cruel

All currency is imaginary until you have something of value in your possession, like food, guns, property, etc.

Depending on how bad things get, people will only trade things they can actually use in daily life, so they may not take gold or silver coins.

Crypto is like the stock market, a total gamble. A tiny few get rich, and the majority make very little, or lose their shirts.

All digital transactions are a loss of privacy.

I'm invested into Crypto for the past 5 years. I am 100% aware that its literally NOTHING and because that has sunk in alittle bit more now, i have NOT reinvested more money into it for quite some time. And i dont forsee myself putting in any in the future. I do see myself still playing the markets. I've been eye getting more silver/gold bullions though.
