I was just thinking of buying a motorcycle, but a motorized bike would be perfect for running down the street a few miles. You could even keep it in the back of a pickup truck in case the grid gets hit. At least you would have a faster way to get home. They even make bikes that can fold in half for easy storage. |

Tires filled/patched, brakes adjusted, new chain. Mostly allen/hex wrenches are needed. If you're handy/mechanically inclined at all they're a breeze to work on. It does suck compared to driving (I haven't ridden in a while, I'll be weak...) but it beats walking. Quoting: RamsesOsirus Thrift stores and Goodwill are great for used ones, if you can find them. Heck, I used to see lots of bikes by my apartment dumpster for free. No gas, good exercise, avoid traffic jams. Slim chance of any tickets, no plates/registration/insurance/license. Can even go electric or retrofit, assuming we still have electricity. It's legal to ride them on the sidewalk here, because there's an old saying: If you're a pedestrian, you hate cars. If you're in car, you hate pedestrians. But everyone hates bicyclists in the street. I'm going to get underglows and a speaker on mine to make vroom vroom noises. Maybe high gas prices will force America back into shape? Might be a good thing! |

Word of advice get a REAL bike.. not walmart or academy BS. they will destroy your body. Real bikes im talking about are like Giant, GT, Specialized, and Trek. They are pretty expensive, but you will the difference in the ride near immediately, and will not destroy your back and knees |

I didn't know if it was any good or not, so that's good to know. It had paint overspray all over it so I just gave it a quick spray. It covered the lettering and everything. Maybe less theft advertising lol. Got a new chain as the old one was rusted from sitting outside for years. Wasn't too expensive or hard to get on, once I figured out how to route the thing around that "derailer"! And I just ground down the rivet and pounded it out, saved a few bucks on a removal tool. Adjusted the brakes so they don't drag too much. Need to get a tube or fix the tube that leaks. For $5, I might just get a new tube and patch the old one as a spare. Tires had some cracking that didn't go through, so I put some E6000 (like shoe goo) on it for now. Trying not to spend a bunch of $$. It might not be the "ideal fix", but then I thought about the condition of some of the tires I had to run on my car and much greater speeds... An ebike is too much for me right now, but I'd like to do a basic retrofit kit with the front (or rear) tire with the built-in electric motor for a boost when I need it. |

Where? Crazy. Must be this story: Yeah I think that's a possibility for all of us every time we leave the house in clown world, sometimes at home. If "lockdown" taught us anything, it's the amount of risk vs. reward we have to be willing to handle. You can't just lock yourself up out of fear. You do your best to be safe and keep others safe. Too bad they were trying to do the right thing too. This world really is due for a bit of house cleaning. |

If shit keeps deteriorating I'll have to start carrying my .380 Bersa Thunder. |
