Agreed. The news article got one important detail wrong. There is no 'Royal Canadian 22nd Regiment'. It's the Royal 22nd Regiment, which is primarily French-speaking and based in Quebec. They go by the nickname 'Van Doos' which is a corruption of the number 22 in French - or vingt deuxieme.

The regiment has tons of battle honours going back to the First World War. Ferocious fighters, every one of them.

Canadian Army snipers are very well trained and highly skilled. This guy knows what he is doing and will know what to do to avoid getting caught. The Russians would do well not to underestimate guys like him. He's not some untrained, inexperienced piker who has decided to pick up a gun and join the fray in Ukraine.
