Medicines as a barter item. What would you buy?
Everyone here knows about precious metals, food stuffs, guns, etc., as good barter items in case things get messy.

But it seems to me that since most of the US's medicines are made overseas that if things got dicey people might not be able to get basic medicines.

I am thinking of buying some antibiotics from overseas. They are cheap at this point, can be easily stored, etc.

Thoughts on this? Would you buy something other than antibiotics for this purpose?

Yes, alcohol would be important, but it takes a lot of space.

No, I am not leverging anything at the expense of others. It would be for bartering purposes. If paper money goes away history shows that other forms of currencies are used.

Basic OTCs - Tylenol, Ibuprofen, toothache ointment, antibiotic creams.

There's sooo many medications out there and other than antibiotics...painkillers come in 2nd, if not, first place.

OTCs can save lives. Nobody wants to die of dehydration because they didn't have Immodium or some Pepto.

Lot of prescrptions out there for blood pressure, cholesterol, etc, things that make life bearble for people who need them.

But the only reason bacteria don't normally cause issues like Covid did is because we have antibiotics....

Yes painkillers would be so important. What you list can be bought domestically at this point. Aspirin is really dirt cheap.....

Thank you for weighing in.

You bet!

Ivermectin (for every covid variant), Hydroxychloroquine (for every covid variant), Lisinopril (high blood pressure), Levothyroxine (for people who have had their thyroid removed and need synthroid to survive), Colcris (for those with gout).

Even stockpiling bourbon would be smart.

So everything should be free during desperation only?

I'm fairly certain that people already pay out of desperation NOW for medications.

Leveraging desperation is how it works NOW...or don't you see that?

Has a point. It's a vicious cycle. Stupid games, stupid prizes. Especially if you don't have a buddy with a sniper rifle on the roof or behind a door. Of course, who's to say your potential clientele would not as well.

Of course what he is saying is true for any asset in times of major trouble. One cannot prepare for all eventualties. But you do what you might think may be helpful until times change. If they do not change it doesn't matter. Is having bottled water and a chain saw in florida during hurricane season stupid? Of course not. Will they solve every problem you could experience. Of course not. You are not thinking logically, only emotionally.

Right, remember that next time you pay for petrol in the car you bought with the cash you earned for the job you did for the company that profited on selling the services to another.

And think about your place already in the current system.

You fool.

I very much doubt you're sat there giving away free anything. Everything is a trade off.
