(…) It’s now rationed so that only two liters of oil can be sold per household.” Its going to be an interesting summer "A similar shortage could follow for corn: Ukraine is the world’s fourth largest exporter of the yellow vegetable. No new deliveries are currently coming from the Ukrainian ports – it is completely unclear when this will be the case again. According to information from the company Ukr-AgroConsult, 500,000 tons of wheat and 1.7 million tons of corn are currently stored in the country. Sunflower oil, where Ukraine is the world’s largest producer and exporter, is also threatened by further massive shortages and price increases" We have seen some odd shortages nothing major but just in case we have stocked up on some staples. kink [link to then24.com (secure)] Were in north america fuck the rest of the world I don't know what things are like in the grocery stores in your area of the US, but around here, flour, cooking oils and pastas are in short supply. I am not sure how long it keeps. Probably spoils easily. I live in a humid region. Cooking oil keeps rather well. I came. I saw. I Concorde. Don't think I will be effected much. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77850978 Fearmongers see one item missing from store shelves. Then they scream collapse happening and boast about their 5 pound bag of flour they have in storage. Covid fearmonger threads have a different user every week that comments how dingle berries are missing from the store shelves. Claim it is workers missing or dead people from covid and worldwide collapse of society in two weeks. Every two weeks for the past 27 months. Guess their shit is sticky and full of processed flour. User ID: 82392259 United States 03/15/2022 02:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If we have shortages here, most people are going to wait until the news tells them to freak out. When that day comes, it’s going to be nuts. I wasn’t grocery shopping during the initial Covid freak out, except for one trip to Whole Foods where only eggs were wiped out and certain types of rice. No one was crying or panicking there. But I only needed a few things because I always have a back stock of toilet paper and usually other essentials too. Mark my words the same people who acted like I was nuts when I told them to buy masks and sanitizer and the same people who act like I’m a crazy prepper will be running around like chickens with their heads cut off. It’s frustrating. IDGAF |

Yes, wheat flour does deteriorate, but the best used by date isn't a great help in knowing what is OK or not OK. 6to 8 months after that best used by date is still plenty OK for use on regular wheat flour...if it's whole wheat, that date is shortened to 4 to 6 months. Of course, you can keep it in its own package and place in a mylar bag with oxygen absorbers and get it stored for several years. Or you can wrap carefully and freeze (if you have room in your freezer...I don't have room currently). |
