Local KMart has gone mostly 'self-serve' in order to “...strive to deliver an enjoyable and convenient shopping experience to all our customers whether they choose to shop with us in-store or online,” the spokesperson told 7NEWS.com.au."

I believe they are using COVID as an excuse to reduce staffing overheads and introduce self serve everywhere to make you scan and pack your own purchases. It is also a convenient excuse for late deliveries or blown out delivery times (even before the scarcity / supply chain bullshit)

What ever happened to service? People are being phased out everywhere and this only adds to the disconnect between the individual and the community.
