User ID: 81071993 Nicaragua 03/22/2022 10:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Im getting ready to redo my living room, cuz I want some change. Quoting: Jannicke I cant decide if I should go one wall dark or all walls dark. Help me glp. [link to imgur.com (secure)] for reference, not my house. All walls dark makes the room look small and feels a bit like a prison, especially if you are using gray. Gray and black inhibit creativity. Deeper shades of blue, purple and green make a room feel more alive and stimulate the brain. |

I guess it DOES make it look smaller. |

I guess it DOES make it look smaller. I did faux finishes and Venetian plaster for a living. Behr picked up one of my custom colors (deep cobalt with a ton of magenta in the tint, so it was hard to tell if it was blue or purple). In the last few years (before I moved to Central America), many of my young and/or single male clients worked in the oil industry (traders, schedulers - high stress jobs). They all wanted dark colors to look modern. I had a few aesthetic conflicts with a couple clients who wanted the modern architecture/tomb look. I told them I didn't want the drab colors in my portfolio. No sense in wasting my artistry on something that on cannot see. Two clients hired someone else and a year later I was hired to repaint the rooms with stress easing colors. Both said they felt their blood pressure increase after sending so much time in darkened rooms. Eggplant works well for a dark color without going into the gray zone. A single dark wall looks elegant, especially with a nice piece of furniture or artwork. Given the darkness in the world now, I think it is important to have happy, soothing colors rather than colors that reflect a police state. Just my two cents. The photo looks lovely, though. |

I feel honored to have your input! You have some serious background in art and architecture. I think eggplant is a lovely color! That's another one I will put in my list. I wish I could find your custom color, that would be amazing. |

I wish I could find your custom color, that would be amazing. I cannot remember what they called it. My name had Picasso in it, but they couldn't use the name of an artist in the color. They picked it up right when I moved to Nicaragua. It was a fluke that they picked it. I was at Home Depot because they didn't mix the color properly. (I was on the fifth five gallon bucket, painting a wooden fence.) When I saw the wet paint, it looked like they forgot the black. I painted a small swatch and it was definitely missing the black. I went back to HD and had them remix. The technician couldn't see the difference and insisted it was mixed properly. I told him to add the black from the formula and I would accept full responsibility if I was wrong. The amount of black in the formula was minuscule, but it made a difference in the color. There was a Behr rep at the counter who was amazed that I could spot the missing tint. He loved the color and submitted it to their color council. |
