However, there exists a substantial amount of Nazi gold which is unacounted for across Eastern and central Europe.

Many treaure hunters have spent years tracing the final and late movements of logistics and tales as to where some of this gold may be.

Occasionally and tantilisigly odd bars do just appear. Lake Toplitz, a ten year old girl dove down and found a Nazi gold bar weighing about 500g.

A teenage girl in Germany will be allowed to keep a bar of gold worth €16,000 ($18,000; £11,500) found in a lake after the owner could not be identified, police said.

The 16-year-old found the 500g (1lb) gold bar at a depth of about 2m (6.5ft) while swimming near the shore of Bavaria's Koenigssee lake last August.

I have no idea as to the estimated worth of missing gold in Europe, I would imagine in total it must number very many millions. Being small in size and complelty free from degredation, means that it could be bueried easily in a corner of a field, or placed in the bottom of a large pond or lake.
