I will say this about the whole Q thing. And it's actually a commedation.
Q got a bunch of otherwise unaware common dulards to actually pay attention to the world around them.
He fed them common sense information they'd never seen before and explained it in such a way that they didn't immediately reject it as they'd done their entire lives.
For that I adore the Q thing.
