That would make a great movie.

Do we experience this phenomena individually do you think? I always have trouble wrapping my head around this. I can't say I'm a true believer in it, but I have an open mind about it. I have had some personal experiences that cause me to question it as a possible explanations for things that happen.

I am a truck driver, nothing crazy or special here.....let me explain

The box truck in front of you was a manual shift. Many times in traffic we will just put it in a low gear a creep, letting traffic ahead move on so that we dont have to keep working the clutch. It can be a real pain in city traffic, especially if the car in front of you is constantly hitting their brakes and even more especially if the truck has a very heavy clutch, which many do. You couldnt see around him because you were riding him so close, so you didnt notice the other traffic slowly move away...during some slow downs, ive literally let traffic in front of me go out of sight before i take off....think about it, the box truck was slowly and steadily creeping until the lanes opened up, right?

So... OP got out of the car and walked around after being stuck in traffic for a few minutes? I've been in lots of traffic jams like that and have never seen people get out of the car after just a few minutes of coming to a complete stop, or a few minutes before traffic starts moving. And the whole event start to finish was 30 minutes? Yet OP and the dog got out to wiz and stretch?

I call LARP.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80619593

Letting the dog out to do its business whenever the opportunity presents itself is SOP when traveling. As far as getting out and stretching, I’ve seen it quite often in really bad, standstill traffic jams. This is common knowledge.

Re: Singular experience last Thursday on a road-trip – shifting timelines? Defies explanation…
Hey OP!

I believe you and I've never shared this before, but reading your experience made me remember it.

I forget what the circumstances were, but I had a bit of an epiphany, being much more observant and less distracted (I had given up on TV and went out without my cellphone when going to run errands) and I literally had time pausing on me, like when you hit play on YouTube or something and it keeps stopping.

More accurately, it was everyone around me that literally stopped, froze, and wouldn't resume movement until my brain reengaged with this thing we call life.

I remember, very specifically, sitting at a diner and daydreaming and keeping to myself, not looking at anyone in the place and not having a phone on me. As I was deep in thought that went into a daydream (which lasted only a few seconds but felt longer), when I "snapped out of it", the sound, movement and everyone in the room resumed exactly from where I left off.

At that time, I had it happen with TV and movies I did watch, where my mind would drift, and the program would wait until I was focusing back on it.

This lead me to believe that the AI, the Universe or whatever control methods are in place to mind every one of us truly is interacting at all times. The same with our phones that tend to listen and bring up in Google searches the exact phrase, even if it's very obscure, of what we were only thinking in our heads... but of course, it doesn't do it all the time.

And that's the craziest part... It IS doing it all of the time, with 100% accuracy, however, it only shows us that it is doing it some 20-50% of the time or else we'd all understand it and it would make people more nervous and angry than the Mandela Effect.

What I'm getting at is, at some point (and I truly believe it was around 2012), everything changed drastically. This world feels, looks and smells more synthetic than it ever has. The sense of time is gone, the sense of a lot of things are diminishing and it's not just me or my age or physical senses that are growing old to it. I've spoken to many younger people and they feel it as well.

Last thing... Time has compressed and the overlay of 24 hour days is really only spanning over 16 hour ones. That's what I am calculating at present. I say this because I have always only slept on average of about 3-4 hours a night (since birth), but now my sleep seems longer and more restful in that same short span and a few others things. I'm not even connected to time anymore, or a clock, unless on an appointment with someone or similar... my body doesn't even feel it, day or night or whatever, it's all the same.

Thanks for this post OP, you gave me a lot to remember and reflect upon.

Re: Singular experience last Thursday on a road-trip – shifting timelines? Defies explanation…
It is similar to what my husband and I had experienced sitting on the back porch in the late at night, not sounds in any way, no animal sounds, no insects, nothing, a road that was a busy night and day seven days of the week, just nothing it like time totally stopped, so we also didn't talk we just looked at each other. It seems that if we talked suddenly every sound was turned back on as normal and the busy road was back again. It didn't just happen one time, it happened a lot of times. It is so calm in a way you want it to last, in another way it is also it is very spooky. The sound of everything should not be off and on, like turning on a light switch. Yet what turned it off and I know what switched it back on, mentioning what was going on.

I can't answer my own question, I am just saying you are not alone, I don't think this type of thing ever gets answered.
I don't think you imagined anything, there is the feeling of being in our world is not what we think it is. I know I eat; I hope it is there and it really, just saying answers bring up other things. If it keeps us living and breathing. I guess it won't matter, not really, it rains, it feels wet. Don't think I haven't thought up some strange thing of why.

I guess after thinking about this, it could be the same thing except it works differently when you are on the road, we were sitting on the porch enjoying the night until we notice the extreme quiet, you were on the road and got out of the car and walked your dog, and then and then, yep, your view changed. I am sure of one thing it had to be very quiet on the road than before.

You were stuck behind that truck. For whatever reason he was going slow, maybe mechanical issues. The cars in front of him that were in front of him all got back up to highway speed and were long gone by the time you passed him. He also blocked your view looking back, so that you could not see the cars behind him.
 Quoting: Skorpio

We have talked about this, my daughter & I as well as friends / family... it could explain why there was no traffic in front of us. However as we were accelerating away from the truck, there should have been vehicles using the now-available second-lane. In the rear-view mirror, I could see the moving truck and the empty freeway rising behind him. That moment was the most surreal of the whole experience.

years ago I was mowing with an electric lawn mower and it stopped working. I unplugged it, cleaned off the blades, plugged it back in and still it wouldn't start. I went into the house for a screwdriver to take apart the switch and came back out and did so. I monkeyed around for a bit. People walked by during my attempt to fix the mower, we chatted about a hedge I had, then I went to plug the mower back in to see if my work had fixed the issue.

The mower had been plugged in the whole time!

I thanked God that I was still alive, and lo and behold the mower was still dead, so I put it off to the side and went out to buy a new one.

... To this day I have thought of that moment.

If you were in Western NC and sat in traffic for an accident that wasn't, that's kind of normal. I've seen traffic backed up miles for a flat tire or just a car parked on the shoulder.

However, I experienced this driving east on 40 towards Hickory. It was early and very light traffic. I came upon a white pickup probably going the speed limit. I passed said truck as did the car behind me. The car behind me was still behind me when I went back into the right lane. However as I was shifting lanes I looked behind me to make sure I had plenty of room and wasn't going to cut the truck off. There was no truck. There was also no exit in that stretch of road. It bothered me for a bit, just that "wtf? I know what I saw" feeling. Really put it out of my mind until I read this post.

Now I wonder what stretch of 40 was OP on, and was it in NC?

Maybe most of the traffic in front of the semi - truck and behind OP took GPS recommended route change of I-81 towards Bristol. It's only 10 minutes difference if destination is Greensboro area even on a day with no I-40 delay, so it would have been far quicker on this day with major delay. And that twisty turny stretch of I-40 through the mountains is something many would just as soon avoid to begin with.

This would be a good place to mention "Missing 411"-David Paulides. He has a YouTube Channel. Many of the stories he mentions recount everything going totally silent like you described.

He has written many books on different areas of the US (and other countries.)

There are two Documentaries he has made..."Missing 411" (about children who have gone missing under strange circumstances) and "Missing 411-The Hunted" (about hunters who have gone missing under strange circumstances.

His YouTube Channel videos he presents 'Missing 411' cases that all have strange similarities that can't be explained. He also reads letters from viewers.

Some of the strange connections:

-Disappeared near a body of water.
-Disappeared near granite.
-Found miles away from where they were last seen.
-Often found naked.
-If they are alive, they can't remember what happened.
-Very smart....doctors, scholars, teachers, etc.
-Some cases go back into the early 1900's.
-Often of German descent.
-No tracks found around the body (human or animal)...it's as if they have been dropped where they are found.
-Often, cause of death can't be determined.
-No animal predation.
-Shoes/Backpacks, etc. never found.
-Shoes sometimes found miles away from the body as if they had been taken off and placed together on purpose.
-Often very physically fit-marathoners, ex-military, hikers, etc.
-Many disappear in National Forests.
-Cluster zones where lots of people have gone missing.

Fair points, but again, there were miles and miles of single-lane cars and trucks behind us when we passed the box truck. As we pulled away, there was no traffic except the box truck. There should have been a continuous flow of vehicles using the left-hand lane, which had just become available.

Also, it was several minutes of highway speeds before we saw a single vehicle ahead of us.

Thanks for sharing, OP. I do know of a couple of cases (experienced by friends) where people suddenly found themselves at the other side of the road, or on a completely different road, or saved from an oncoming vehicle. These are the acts of unseen guides and angels, and they indicate that it is not time to leave / die. I think that such experiences serve to give a sudden jolt to the thinking mind, causing it to contemplate why we are here and what task / mission still needs completing.

Re: Singular experience last Thursday on a road-trip – shifting timelines? Defies explanation…
This past Thursday (3/17/22) My adult daughter and I were driving from TN to NC for a family wedding. We depart the Nashville area early in the morning, prepared for a 9-10 hour drive.

We are excited about the wedding, looking forward to seeing a bunch of family / friends, and the long weekend. Great weather, comfortable car, family dog in the backseat (Ruger, wicked-smart German Shepherd).

About 3 hours into the drive, on I-40 eastbound, her Wayze app pipes up and says there is an accident ahead. Sure enough, within a minute or two, we start to slow down and traffic starts to bunch up.

Another few minutes, and we are at a complete standstill. I throw the car in park, we roll the windows down, and chat about the traffic, the accident, and how we hope it clears soon. A few minutes later, I get out of the vehicle, let Ruger have a pee and a sniff, and I stand in the grass, looking at the traffic jam.

Hundreds (thousands, really) of cars and trucks stretch to my left, west, as far as I can see. To my right, same thing. This is a major traffic jam, both lanes, no exit ramps. Good Dog & I get back in the car. I make a comment to my daughter that I hope we actually get to see the accident, and then feel bad for saying it. Minutes pass, and we slowly start to move.

Another few minutes, crawling at maybe a walking speed, suddenly there are orange cones reducing the two lanes to one. We end up behind a big box truck, trapped in our lane, unable to see anything ahead of us. Must be a bad accident.

Behind us, an endless line of traffic. In front of us, nothing visible but the roll-up door of the box-truck.

We have seen no evidence of an accident. No emergency vehicles, no debris. Also no signs of construction other than the orange cones.

Then the cones start to march away, to my left, opening up the left-hand lane. I hit my blinker (habit), pass the truck, get back into the right-hand lane, and start accelerating.

What I see in front of me takes a few seconds to process.

There is no traffic. Just an empty two-lane freeway, slowly rising up to a crest, a mile or two in the distance. My brain tries to reconcile what I am seeing, because I expected to see hundreds of cars and trucks accelerating & jockeying for position, just freed from the single lane, walking speed, traffic jam.

Instead, nothing. As I accelerate up to about 80 mph, we have a weird exchange of “Wait, what?” and “do you see this?” type comments.

As we pull farther away from the slower-moving box truck, I look in the rearview mirror and my stomach drops. There is no traffic behind us, either. Except for the truck, receding in the distance. My daughter is semi-speechless. We share awkward laughter and keep looking at each other for confirmation that we are both seeing the same thing.

It was perhaps two or three minutes, zooming along at about 85 (the freeway is frikken empty), and we started to encounter sporadic traffic. I also started to see vehicles behind us. Another few minutes, and it seemed to be restored to the normal amount of traffic.

At the dinner, wedding, and reception, we shared the experience with family and close friends. People that know we are not delusional. We mostly got wide eyes and responses like: “I got nothing.” “Crazy.” A few red-pilled people were talking Mandela and the multi-verse and shifting timelines.

We were sober, alert, visibility was perfect. Neither of us have ever had hallucinations that we are aware of. We are both very red-pilled, and often discuss GLP-ish things.

I have seen some shit in my 50+ years. I have never had an experience that straight-up defies ANY explanation that is conventional. My daughter and I have talked about this several times a day, every day, since it happened. We are both still at a loss.

I swear and affirm that everything I just wrote is accurate to my knowledge and memory. In fact, I wanted to make this post in order to get it written down and archive it. My daughter mentioned this morning that as time passes, she is finding herself doubting what we experienced, as though just a week of confusion is enough to make our minds start to scrub away something we cannot explain. I do not want that to happen, because I KNOW what I saw (or didn’t see) and I do not want it to go down the memory-hole.

I will say, I am glad we experienced it together, so we each have a witness.

I got nothing.

I may be a crazy GLP'er, but I am not nuts. I know what I experienced, and for the first time in my life, I cannot come up with a rational answer outside of God, multi-verse, timeline shifts, maybe a little Mandela thrown in...

What say you, GLP? I am really looking forward to your insights.

I am gonna try to karma-pin this.

-Az

My daughter and I lost 3 hours on a 4 hour trip. It took SEVEN hours to ride from Tuscaloosa, AL to Oxford, MS. We were riding along talking and then we fell quiet. Which never happens. Dazed
And then we started noticing that we were passing the SAME THINGS we had already passed.
Then we fell silent again. And then we had one more round of “SHIT WE ALREADY PASSED THIS TRUCKSTOP TWICE WTF”
We’ve taken the trip to visit another daughter at least 50 times. We know the roads, stop at the same place places, and there is NO explanation.
My daughter is a skeptic of any such things but she talks about this all the time. It changed both of us.

So what did her app say? It should have updated. Tennessee Highway Patrol probably has the crash reported somewhere. If there were cones, it was official, whatever it was, so there's a form filled out somewhere.

Were you coming off the Cumberland Plateau going towards Knoxville? Those ascents, descents and curves could have impacted your visibility and sense of the congestion.

Not taking anything away from you. There may be a supernatural explanation, but you should first seek a natural one.

Driving in East TN can be fun and odd because of the hills and turns. If you're used to being on the plateau there in Nashville, it could throw you off.

I got serious chills reading that.

I wonder sometimes if maybe we aren't already dead.

In any case... our reality is changing.

years ago I was mowing with an electric lawn mower and it stopped working.

Life turned to shit shortly afterward and had continued to get worse ever since

Am I dead and in hell, maybe?

No, you just experienced a glitch, and perhaps your timeline switched.

Several years ago, my clothes dryer quit working, the motor that turns the barrel wouldn’t come on. Tested it thoroughly myself, no joy. Serviceman from the gas company came out, and together we attempted to find out what was wrong. We checked EVERYTHING, the power outlet, the cord, the interlock switch, the motor - EVERYTHING. We literally took the dryer apart. The circuit was good, but no flow. After two hours we gave up. We buttoned it up, closed the dryer door, and the service guy tried it one more time just for fun, and... yes, it started running. It has run fine ever since.

The serviceman was competent, and I spent much of my career before I retired in electronics manufacturing and design. There was NO WAY that could have occurred, dryers are fairly simple to troubleshoot, and both of our multimeters weren’t lying. The service guy had been with the gas company for a couple of decades, and although he had heard stories about such things happening from his colleagues, it was the first time it had happened to him.
