Have to give a shout-out to LA PD today:)
Because I guarantee you that you won’t hear about this on the 5:00 news tonight.
I have a friend who lives down in SoCal. I’m in NorCal. Anyway..she is in her early 60s and lives alone in a rural canyon there. We normally stay in contact with each other daily, but I knew something was wrong when I didn’t hear from her all day yesterday and when I called her phone this morning it went straight to her vm. This is one of the kindest, sweetest lady you would every want to meet and she’s just one of those people who always has a kind word and a smile to everyone. She’s a God fearing woman who offers encouragement to anyone who needs it. That’s just the type of person she is.
Understandably concerned about her, I went back and forth about calling the LA Co. Sheriff to see if they would do a welfare check on her. I knew that you can’t even file a missing person’s report without the person being gone for 72 hours. So I gritted my teeth and made the call.
I fully expected to get a very harried and impatient officer answering my call, given all a county of that size has to deal with on a daily basis. But to my surprise and relief..everyone I spoke with was kind, considerate and very helpful. It took several transfers for them to get me to the right district given how rural my friend lives. But thankfully they were finally able to get a deputy out to her house and fortunately it was just a phone issue she was having.
Here’s the amazing part..it wasn’t even a half hour before their dispatcher called me back, as promised, to let me know my friend was ok! And I no sooner hung up the phone with the dispatcher, when the deputy who actually checked on her called me as well to let me know she was fine, that it was just phone problems and that she would be calling me as soon as she could get her phone fixed:)

To say I was blown away by their kindness, concern, and professionalism for a very minor problem that turned out to be nothing, thankfully, would be an understatement. Sadly these are the stories, you DON’T get to hear about on the news. If only all of the positive things that our men and women in blue do could be known by the general public..maybe we wouldn’t be so quick to jump on the “Defund the Police” bandwagon.
Thanks for reading my story. And thank you LA PD for going out of your way to put my mind at ease about my dear friend. rose
Faith in Him.
