They build those cabins up on the side of mountains so steep that some firetrucks can not even make it because of the narrow roads with switchback curves. All it takes is one spark and half the mountain will burn. I hear this one started with trees in power lines but you never know, There are some people that think it would be great is every cabin on the mountain burned and let nature take back over. Somehow 5 firetrucks burned last night and one Blackhawk chopper had to make an emergency landing. For some local redneck news. I have a friend that is a fireman and he told me that today they had a dispute between a farmer and the helicopters. The choppers were getting water from ponds on a farm about 10 miles from the fire and a farmer did not like it. He said they were scaring his cows and it was his pond and it is hard to keep full. He tried to wave the chopper off and when that did not work he got the shotgun out and aimed it at it. He called the fire dept and told them if they came back he would either shoot the chopper or he would be in the pond with a large sharp knife and would cut the rope. They told him it better be on hell of a knife. [link to www.wate.com (secure)] |
