What causes it to collapse? What kind of indications are they getting that suggests this will happen ?

My question about this is, if we're not solid core and that one main theory of certain Electric Universe Proponents is correct, and earth has a hollow core, then the mechanism for the reversals is not interior, but driven via Space Vacuum and excess charge of some kind, or heavenly bodies, or lots of extra charge coming in from the Sun.

Actually, it's one of the only current theories that is almost completely supported by the science. I could sit here and spell it out for you but you'd do far better to google "Geomagnetic Reversal" and read what the modern scientific consensus says. Other than 1 article recently downplaying it, science journals have been reporting on this very issue for decades, quietly. There's every indication we're in the early stages of one now.

You forgot to mention the part where the part of the Earth's crust that normally holds the continents in place liquifies during the collapse and in effect, the continents become untethered from the core of the Earth.... while the oceans, being unconnected to the Earth, will continue to travel 1000 mph at the speed of the Earth's rotation right across every single continent.
