Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers signed a bill Wednesday that makes threatening a healthcare worker a felony. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75708546 The bill makes it a felony punishable by up to six years in prison to threaten healthcare workers in their official capacity or their families in reaction to something that happened at a healthcare facility. Legislators drafted the measure in responses to stories from healthcare providers about patients threatening doctors and others who were trying to care for them. [link to www.modernhealthcare.com (secure)] Have any other governors done this? Sounds like this may be related to the amount of angry people there's about to be over the truth on Covid protocols and jabs. It'll be too little. Once people realize whats been done a threat of a felony won't deter an angry mother or father or husband or wife. I don’t think it’s any conspiracy to it. People don’t believe it but assaulting healthcare workers is pretty common. I’m glad that someone is doing something about it. It’s always pushed under the rug because the patient is always right. In the five years I’ve been a nurse I’ve been punched, beat with a grabby stick and sexually assaulted (he grabbed my breast and tried to pull me on top of him.) I tried to report the last one but I was told it was going to be ten pages of paper work on top of all my other duties. They did not remove that patient from my set. I had to continue to take care of him. A couple of the cna’s stood in the room as my bodyguards for weeks so I could do my job without being touched inappropriately. This is just one nurses experience. We all have been assaulted. We understand going in that people are at their worst when I’ll. But that gives no one any right to assault me. Sunsetdreams711 |
