/u/koyanostranger:

Getting coughed at by d1ckhead Japanese guys is definitely a phenomenon.

I don't care if some fellow foreigner says you're just imagining it or they're just coughing by chance as they pass you by, etc.

Based on the available evidence I've decided that it's definitely a phenomenon and that's all I care about.

It might be called "wazato seki barai" in Japanese (= deliberate throat clearing)

Other weird noises, clicks, tuts, etc. are also heard.

Are these d1ckwads who deliberately cough at me racist?

Yes, I think they are. I think they cough at me to signal "I don't like foreigners." And I don't care if a fellow foreigner starts denying this or defending them. That's fine but I'm sorry I've made up my mind... the people who do it are racist d1cks.

Anyway, as I've mentioned on other threads, I have a bit of fun with it... make a game of it... return the cough with bells on.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78972798

You're a pussy dude. Anybody that has as much animosity as you should step up to someone and say something

Yet you're a fucking pussy and return the cought at them? What a giant pussy.

Where you stay at? I'd like to punch you in your throat.

They are still rightfully mad about ww2, we killed 130k-230k of their "civilians" (even though they would have mobilized them all to defend japan in the event of a land invasion) because the emporer wouldnt surrender. They think they have the moral high ground over the barbarian whites who slaughtered their innocent. They do not forgive, they do not forget, thats why they give us ugly cars like toyotas.

Re: "Manners" in Japan

Japanese need a boot on them or they will chimp out
Whether it be people coughing at foreigners for no reason, people trying to scare pedestriens on their bikes or bicyclist on their cars or people trying to act all tall and bought, shopping mall security guards dressed like colonels stomping around like they are on guard duty at the fuggin Fort Knox and doing arm movements to chimp out at the foreigners (“The Osaka Move”) making customers they feel are out of place i.e. confident white people who dress well feel completely uncomfortably, officiously banging chairs and marching around., Suddenly there is a flurry of activity near the white foreigner all designed to show him who is the boss and that. That is why we nuked them and that is why we will continue to monitor them. If you see a Jap in your country learn everything you can about them and their movements. Report every little cough, sneeze, and bad manners. They are not Christian and do not care for Christian mercy. They are capable of inhumanity and without us looking at them they would be at it again, much like they try to bully and harass the foreigners who work in Japan. Most foreigners are too polite to say anything but some do and the stories have leaked out about the terror campaigns by company presidents and managers against foreign workers and love how they wear the suits pretending to be like whites its like white voodoo magic Oh lets wear with clothes and the reactors will be find because we are all at our desks wearing top hats and with clothes so they way we can do the site things just like the europeans” boom oh no what that? this is the result of 120 million people who shuffle papers and look at desk all day putting in face time at office but not really doing much but wearing with clothes, basically an entire society of desk clerks trying to pretend they are important by wearing suits.

Re: "Manners" in Japan
Abuse cases at residential care facilities in Japan are, sadly, all too common these days. Officials in Ibaraki, just outside Osaka City, confirmed this week that a case from November last year was, indeed, abuse.

In this case, a resident of one Ibaraki care home injured their hand after a staffer encouraged them to hit it with a hammer.

According to reports released this week, the staffer said to the resident “If I told you to hit yourself with a hammer, would you do it?”

The resident then did as instructed.

The staffer followed this up. She added: “If I told you to stab yourself in the belly with a kitchen knife, would you do it?” The resident then tried to do so, before staff intervened.

The staffer’s explanation for her actions was, to say the least, lacking. She said: “I was trying to teach the resident to think independently, to stop just blindly doing what they were told. I am sorry for what I did”.

Shockingly, no criminal charges were filed in this case. Instead, guidance was issued to the home’s administrators on how to train staff more effectively. The staffer in question has since quit the role of her own volition. She faced no formal sanctions for the abuse

Not really. Actually the small surface of polite and the rudeness underneath equals that they aren't. Jap men like to provoke and cause trouble often doing big arm movements to their head or doing their hair like apes and coughing and sneezing and making noise with feet and dropping things and banging things around foreign white men. They also love cheating and often lie.

Japan is a pretty safe country with low crime rates. There’s only one section of Tokyo that is a little shady (Kabukicho) but it also has a fun night life too so I would suggest visiting (especially Golden Gai area) and sing karaoke with the locals there but just play it smart and don’t go into any bar offering you a good time (where they could spike your drink you end up with a large bill to pay when you wake up).

There might be a few dickheads that act like that towards foreigners, same as anywhere. Japan is a great country to travel to though, once they reopen.if you live there, learn the language and learn to speak fluently. It will help. But you will always be a foreigner. That fact is ingrained in Japanese, you cannot 'become' one. No matter how long you live there.
