I'm remembering about 10 years ago , in line at the airport, one of about 4 Japanese dudes kept bumping into me with his luggage. I figured he was lame and out of sorts from the long flight, but now I'm rethinking. Too bad, we learn later.

For over 20 years I spent half of each year in Asia including Japan, Osaka and Narita.

And I disagree 100%, I found the Japanese to be the most polite people I have ever been around. I never experienced any of what the OP wrote.

Once in downtown KIX I was searching for a business and had an address, I knew I was close so I stopped a man on the street who first pointed in the direction I needed to walk, then he thought a minute and then escorted me 2 blocks away to the front door. Never would happen here in the USA.

They were having some trouble years ago, some group of them were carrying out terror attacks on them, strange really. These weren't polite to their own fellow Japanese. I hope they are over their ways against the original populations, Ainu, the Indigenous people of Japan. There is no reason to insult people.

They love to grunt, and cough do huge sneezes at people like foreigners and wave arms around or put arms to hair or face to look bigger or distract, or just for some kind of shock effect.
