Neighbors Dog barking Broke me today

How's this for irony. I'm supposed to be leaving today to find a new home, possibly in Florida.
and, on my way to a house and PET SITTING JOB. Housesitting for one little cat the owners care enough about to have me come stay with her.

I'm supposed to be ahead of that rainstorm coming in tomorrow. It's a perfect sunny day, ruined by grief and exhaustion and the anger these assholes made me feel. I'll have to rest , take a nap, possibly not leave until tomorrow moring, losing an entire day.

I've used earplugs for years in public places like noisy restaurants and cafes. At home I keep fans on and an air filter on. So what's the point of living in a beautiful place if you can't even enjoy your own yard and have to be inside all day?

Nashville has become a hellscape, sort of a mix of LA and Denver meets Manhattan. It never used to be this bad. I have three neighbors all who have barking dogs and all renters who came here post covid.

Another thing that has made it worse is the new "Yard rental services" people have started. They rent the yard for other peoples dog, then allow the dog to roam and bark all day.

Society at large is a nightmare.

And I LOVE DOGS. Which is why I don't have one.

If it's any consolation, I had a very similar situation.

Neighbourhood was very peaceful when I first moved in.. then over time scumbag neighbours moved in a couple of houses up the street with 3 large dogs, that barked all day.. every day.. from 6am till 11pm.

I didn't confront them at all.. I went to the local authority to see what could be done.

They were basically useless.. I was supposed to keep a log of the times and dates when the dogs barked.. which I did, Monday - Sunday 6am until 11pm.

The local authority did nothing.

Eventually the scumbags moved and took their dogs with them.

Problem solved.

In your case confronting them probably wasn't the best idea, as you're now number #1 suspect for their derision.

Anything happens to those dogs and guess who they'll blame.

Get one of those dog whistles that humans can’t hear and have some fun. Start using that whistle when your dog neighbor is trying to sleep. Dog will go berserk and it is hilarious. Eventually the dog owner might just check his/her dog into shutting up so they can sleep.

When the SHTF and people can't afford dogfood things will change. Shelters will be packed. It's already happening.

But also people will set their dogs free in rich neighborhoods hoping they will find a new home to feed them. And this is a whole new problem. Especially if they are pitbulls.

I got one of those bark stop devices and mounted it so it points down the alley towards the barking dog near me. He still barks, but he doesn't go on and on and on like he used to.

That may or may not work in your situation? You can also get handheld devices that emit the same high pitched sound. People can't hear it but it bugs the dogs, and they usually shut up.

I hear ya.. I have neighbor who used to let his dog out and it would always come over to my house barking it's head of at nothing. If I happened to step out of my house while the dog was there, it would snarl, bark and charge at me like he wanted a piece of me, literally.

I finally had enough and confronted my redneck neighbor and his kids, reminding them there's a leash law in the county and to keep their vicious dog off my property.

Of course his reaction wasn't apologetic, but I'm the bad guy and 'asshole' for daring to complain.

It wasn't a homeowner. It was a worker in a resturant behind my house about three lots away. He brought a dog to work apparently with the intent on keeping in in the truck all day with the window cracked and the dog barking. It's going to be 80 in Nashville today.

When I said it broke me, I mean it. Mentally I lost it. I know the owner, and he's off today, allowing the rats to run the ship. I already had to boycott the restaurant because they don't keep consistent hours, then when they are open, they have twice the amount of workers they need to run the place. There are almost no customers, the place is filthy and not renovated.

The cops weren't called, not this time. A dog consistently barking is animal abuse, so is leaving a dog locked in a car. Oh the car is right next to an expensive apartment building and peopled bedrooms. You do call Police in Nashville if you see pets trapped in locked vehicles. I wouldn't do such a things before trying to find the owner, the window of the vehicle was open. None of that is the point. The point is the many people have no sense of other people spce, privacy or peace.

Do you want to bet it's his girlfriends dog or possibly he's being paid to watch it on Rover?Or it's his and he can't keep it at home becaseu it BARKS ALL DAY.

the two neighbors are girls renting a house away, and the neighbor across the street, all who also have barking dogs causing issues. Both new. This entire situation is new as off about 6 weeks ago.

I have been wearing earplugs in noisy public situations for over 25 years. I carry a pair in an alcohol soaked plastic container so they are wet when I put them in, they are serious swimmers earplugs, not foam.

In my mid 60s, it has come to my attention that I have developed what some of you would consider to be Adult Aspergers and slightly on the Autism spectrum. I can hear things many people can't, as well as see beyond normal ranges of light.

You may remember a Movie called "Pax" where the prime character thinks he's an Alien and develops hyper intelligence and the ability to see outside human light ranges after a horrific trauma. There is a lot of me in the character. In Constantine as well.

Dogs are some of the most beautiful creatures on earth, if he/she is barking the dog is trying to tell the owner something isn't right. You guys need to fix the problem to find a solution.

This is bullshit. Sometimes a dog barks chronically because it has nothing else to do. If the owner doesn't like you, it wont either.

I had to leave a brand new neighborhood when I landed a cool guest bedroom whose window was a sliding glass door facing...the patio of a gheaey couple whose 2 dogs were left outside during the summer and would spend night & day barking, until they came back home. Then they'd have ghaey parties there! Music, the works.

All I wanted was some peace and quiet. Did you move OP?? I live in TN. You couldn't get me to live there if you paid me to! That horrid heat! Ghastly!

Get a dog whistle, something that hurts the dogs ears and humans can't hear.

Something has changed with people. No common courtesy any longer. I see it while driving, working in my yard or trying to relax in my backyard. Everyone is all about themselves. The new owners across the street from me see it ok to park their hummer and their 28' boat on a trailer across their front lawn. I gave them some time to get situated but I can see now that this is how they plan to live. I literally have to watch out when coming and going from my driveway so I do not hit their truck or boat.

Everyone is so damn rude and selfish nowadays.

If you're willing to ditch a job over a barking dog and being called a loser Karen then maybe you should use it to motivate you to move somewhere more to your liking without dogs.
What, you've been there a long time? Who cares? Your sanity is worth more than time spent in the same neighborhood or house.
Stop complaining and change your situation, nobody else is going to.
