Germany has been involved in all kinds of shady operations. Germany has sent more than several billion € to the Ukraine over the last years. It wouldn't surprise me if some of the money is in Zelensky's offshore-accounts. If certain people tell Gemrany to get involved, mainly through funding these labs, they will. Because they owe it.
